    PPG pain: price on Concept

2019 it was about $150/qt. I just called around and got prices in the $250-280 for something easy like white.

    Looking for CVRT TM's

https://haynes.com/en-gb/scorpion-cvrt Heh. It's not actually useful, just a funny coffee table book. https://hmvf.co.uk is good for CVR(T) specific questions. I've long wished for a repository for British manuals, but it's not something I've found. I do have many manuals for CVR(T), PM me...

Clansman gear, anybody running this stuff and is there any interoperability with the US stuff?

All I know is what's in the description on the website: "Converts 7 pin Clansman audio to US style audio equipment. Has 5 pin US U-229/U style Connector."

Odyssey PC2250ST 6tl the bad? best seller?

Right, a cell fails open and your whole 12V battery is useless. A cell fails here and you could bypass it or remove it and at least you can still start your truck. Better, you only cave to carry one spare cell to deeply mitigate this risk, so 1/8 vs. 1/2 of the size/weight/cost to have a...

I wonder if what you need is one of these: https://armyradio.com/Adapter-Unit.html

Clansman gear, anybody running this stuff and is there any interoperability with the US stuff?

Yes, that's the same manual I've got, so a more complete manual would be very welcome. That outfit in Poland seems out of the tested-good radios, but they still have plenty of as-is units. Pity they are so expensive to ship. Having a good manual makes one tempted to bring a pallet over and try...

Odyssey PC2250ST 6tl the bad? best seller?

I have been recommending Odyssey batteries for a while, but I've just recently changed my mind. Years ago, they were making the Optima batteries in Sweden or someplace and they were outstanding. I dropped one several times, broke a big hole in the case, and still used it for years, I mean...

    Are 6TL Batteries worth it?

I'm done with lead-acid batteries for anything real. Occasionally a producer makes something really good quality that really lasts, but by the time you realize how good it is, they have cheapened it or moved production and it's junk. I've ridden that ride too many times. So, the cheaper NAPA...

Clansman gear, anybody running this stuff and is there any interoperability with the US stuff?

Longer term, it integrates with my Clansman intercom system, but for now just a basic verification of function is all I'm after.

Clansman gear, anybody running this stuff and is there any interoperability with the US stuff?

Well, my 5080 arrived yesterday, now I have to source a power cable. For initial test, it would be great to know if the top or bottom pin was hot. I'll check both pins for continuity to ground, it might be just that easy! I've got the antenna ARFAT and TUUAM coming in a shipment next week, so...

    Ferret 38C5968

Ferret fuel system strikes again! The last few times I've run the Ferret, it's seemed like it was taking more time to get fuel into the carburetor and has been longer to warm up and run right. Well, things came to a head last trip out when it stalled completely and would not restart. The...

Clansman gear, anybody running this stuff and is there any interoperability with the US stuff?

Might be some help for your ARFAT /TUAAM situation here? https://radionerds.com/images/4/40/UK-PRC320_Infantry_Signal_Training.pdf There are several outfits that will just sell you the needed cable(s) SeriesLR has deep stocks and well organized, also prompt shipping, though I admit to not...

Clansman gear, anybody running this stuff and is there any interoperability with the US stuff?

Any suggestions for where to find the 5080 on the cheap? Best I've seen is about $500/ea. It's not high, but not quite "cheap!!!" for a band nobody much uses and I'd need to upgrade my lic. anyway. The 5080 does look like a "better" radio than the VRC-353 they basically replaced and those...

Odyssey PC2250ST 6tl the bad? best seller?

My experience with a Walmart battery and trying to get it warrantied was the literal worst customer service I've ever had in my life. Several visits at multiple stores trying to resolve a failure of a 2-week-old battery until after five visits I finally gave up. Never again. Napa has never...

    Stud welding with common tools?

Adhesive-bond might be a course of action, but it would have to be a stud rather than a nut. It's armor plate, so drilling, tapping, and riivnuts aren't going to work for me.

    2023 SoCal Spring Rally

Hmm, this is very interesting. I'd like to know more about this DL of which you speak... I've got a Ferret in CA and while the DMV was willing to at least consider giving me a title, when I went to the CHP for VIN verification, the officer sent me packing with a note despite it not being a US...

    Stud welding with common tools?

I'd love to weld a 1/4" threaded stud to a plate. I own a stud-gun resistance welder for automotive bodywork, but of course that doesn't have the power. Online searches tend to talk about capacitive-discharcge or other exotic machines, so that's out as well. I'm thinking along the lines of...

Type IX Single Component CARC Painting?

If it uses Xylene, I wouldn't rely on a n95 on a bet. You need something that will protect against organic solvents and the like, not just particles. A charcoal-based mask is the thing here and I don't mean a thin disposable one either. A half-mask with organic-vapor cartridges at a minimum...

Got a bunch of computer stuff, not sure what it is

It's typical to find that the hard drives want a special caddy and it's often removed and destroyed with the drive when these are released into the wild, so if yours has that, you are far ahead. I sold my computers and caddies, but I might still have a soft-case or two.

Pintle hitches on tanks and APCs

Of course, there's an excellent reason you don't usually want to tow with a tracked-vehicle. It makes it impossible to take any tight or neutral turns since the the vehicles pivot around the center of the track rather than around the center of the back axle.
