Update: gave up on LEDs. Went with the halogens from Those Military Guys. Tonight was the first chance to use them. Very satisfied. Nice and bright. No issues installing them. Worth the money.

I also have a non turbo and just bypassed the fdc. Everything I've read on this site suggests that engine damage is still possible whether turbo or non. I installed a pyro. I look at it as cheap insurance and gives me a reference point if and when I make adjustments to the fuel delivery.

As this was the first Halloween with the truck, I wanted to stay a bit whimsical instead of scares. It had the desired effect. The kids were all smiles. Also spent my "prop" allowance on the werewolf. No money left for surplus cammies.

So after doing some further research, it seems the OZ-USA lights have a decent reputation. Enough so that I placed an order. Guess I'll be the guidea pig. I'll report on how they work once installed.

You make a very good point and generally I follow that rule as well; however, sometimes a gem comes along and I'd hate to miss out. I'll probably wait and get the maxximas at some point.

Thanks Gimpyrobb. Those maxximas are pricey. Guess they'll go on the wish list. The oz USA lights are 24v and the come with wiring harness adapters. Phillips diodes but assembled in China. Reviews were mixed but few...the same for the maxximas. At $80 for 2, it might be worth taking a chance...

...or the oring material? My first inclination was to use air tool oil as well. Turned out to be a moot point because of the amount of grease inside the motors. It looked like wheel bearing grease. I don't see how air tool could make it worse so it's worth trying. Again, the orings are cheap and...

I was told that air tool oil would swell the orings. I don't know if that information is accurate or not but you cant go wrong with oring grease.

I recently rebuilt both of mine. One wasn't working at all and the other was sluggish. Both had copious amounts of grease...the wrong grease...which made the orings swell. The grease also entered the air passages. Cleaned everything out, replaced orings, and used oring grease. Orings are common...
