Good ideas.
Where do I get the correct shear pin. Or the correct material to make one? I have a small shop lathe. I have brass and some aluminum. stock
Most of the problem is its a small volunteer fire dept. The guy that was doing maintenance had to quit because of health and age...
Instructions??? ha ha I got a whole bunch of shoulda coulda woulda.....
Trying to find that manual here now.
It a PTO winch
Yes the shear pin is sheared. I have both half's in my hand. Well I have ends with small cotter pins. Probably the rest is still in the shaft. Looks like 3/8...
Our volunteer fire dept has a 1990 Kaiser M54A2 converted to a tanker.
Using the winch has been a issue. Mostly because we don't know what we are doing. Finally got the PTO to engage. Then had difficulty getting the lever in front to work. We had the cable pulled out. Then once we got the...
Its a LMTV with a 5000 load limit. Water is heavy. I have to keep everything else light as possible. I use the truck for other chores around the ranch. A skid mounted fire accessory is just that an "accessory" as needed part time.
Your note did give me some ideas.
Do you have a 1" hose reel...
Thanks. I will look for them.
I don't want to reinvent the wheel. If somebody has a something all set up, maybe that is the way to go. Glad to hear about driving at load.
So you bought the skid unit complete whole from a vendor? Can you tell who that vendor is?
What does the complete skid unit weight filled. As that must real close or over the load limit what has been your experience driving it filled.
I have tried to google fuel pods and get a million hits of everything but what I want. Can you give me a spec or part number so I can narrow the result?
Baffle balls see link: https://www.plasticwatertanks.com/c/qh67n/baffle-balls-surgebusters Think of a wiffle ball but 14 " in Dia.
I am load maxed with 500 gallon tank on the LMTV 500 g water x 8.3 = 4150 lbs plus the weight of the tank (189lbs empty) pump, hose and plumbing in a max load...
This is what I was thinking of using. Low profile baffled 500 gal transport tank

Yes, I was hoping someone out there would know what its supposed be like. I agree this is worthless. There was NO airflow at all. IDK. Thinking about it. Access is real tight. Maybe rerouting a hose a completely different way??
All good points.
The terrain is very wooded and sometimes vertical. I got the LMTV for the mobility in tight spaces vs a FMTV or a Deuce. So not sure trailer is the answer. I do like the idea. Yes I have looked at them for just the utility of them. They are pretty cheap. The spray bar would...
I put the 3.07 in my 1999 LMTV. It has the 3116. I have not changed any engine programing. I have it since march 2020. I am happy with it so far.
Lots of very good info here.
Thanks
Good morning from the Ozarks.
I have a 1999 M1078 with a dump conversion for working my ranch were everything is 4WD. I would like to put a tank and pump on a pallet that could be dropped on to the bed for a fire.
I already have a very portable gas "firepump" on a big hand dolly. It has 300 ft...
