Ok guys,
If everything goes as planned, we should be shipping kits this week. Pricing will be very close to what I expected
2200/ 2400 for two axles. Hopefully we can do a little better. The EDM is a little slow, but doing very nice work.
Haven’t received his final bill but I know what to...
My truck seems to drive very nice with or without the dampener. I still have a vibration (tire? ) that comes and goes.
Nothing at lower speeds, 50/55 but at 60 and above its there sometimes…. I thought it might be the start of death wobble?
The dampener didn’t make any difference on that...
Another project done on my m1078. Fabricated and installed a steering dampener. I was going to do a dual set up
however this seems to work nice . I can always add another shock if needed.. Much less feedback from the road,
Pot holes etc. It does take a little more effort to make quick...
Position just ahead of charge air cooler . Rests on top with the 90 degree break. The two hose clamps clamp around the cab cross bar
And hold the assembly.. Didn’t take any pictures of it installed, Less than 10 min to install or remove.. just tilt the cab and clamp into place.
First hub done at edm today. Needed to tighten it up a little. The fit was better than stock, but not as good as it could be..
Small change in program should be good!
They may tell you to drain the compressor . Then install something like 2 to 3 oz in the compressor then distribute the rest in the
Accumulator and condenser. If the dryer has a sight glass( sometimes tapped over) that is a good indicator of charge. No bubbles
In the sight, good to go...
Check your fuel tank vent hose, did mine yesterday. Located under the spare, you can get to it from the bed of the truck.
Mine was plugged tight. Remove the hose from the top tank fitting try to blow thru it.. M1078
Looking for a diagram on the hi idle switch or idle up switch. Mine stopped working. I have 4.8 volts on one side of the switch?? Switch is good. Thank you!
The short of it is these hubs replace the outer reduction 2:1 with 1:1 direct drive. Reducing engine rpm by 50%. Increasing fuel mileage. Reduces noise in cab dramatically! Making you new to you M1078 much more drivable and fun!
Worked in the home shop last evening. Machining the OD of adapter plates, and welding inner and outer plates together .
Finished 48 pieces….
Dropped the plates to CNC, this morning for drill tap..
The heat treat on the hubs are due back today, (over a week at heat treat). They get washed and...
Did some more experimenting today, tapped in to the crank sensor wiring . Did get a frequency reading, however the tach didn’t like it. Went back to the ac on the alternator. Works as long as the dash light are on. Will check out the ecu pins when I get more time.
Might be the best way.
Did some more testing today. I don’t know if everyone but me knows how to enter low range in mode.
On my truck you push mode, then use the down arrows to select 1st. At that point you feel a shift. Much lower than the default starting gear in mode. The speeds I got were: 6mph at 1350...
