I agree with everything you suggested. This main Breaker Thread started 12/5/10 and that makes a lot of reading material that's not all main breaker. This could be added to the list. My first suggestion to whomever wants a surplus generator thinking there going to get a plug & play at a cheap...
@Hectorosa, I was thinking about the conversation on changing a 10Kw AC box with 4 wraps to a 5Kw box needing 8 wraps. "Thinking usually gets me into trouble" I just pulled a CVT1 / CT1 out of a 10Kw box with 4 wraps and I know there was not enough wire to add the additional 4 wraps needed for a...
Guyfang Is right on the money, you do not have to change the main breaker, they are the same 100amp breaker. I have a new one to attest to this fact. R3 adjustment Is In the TM If needed.
jamawieb Is the man. I still kick myself once a day for that. I had a 5Kw box on a 10Kw and It kept tripping breaker. I now say 10-4 good buddy. 10Kw 4 wraps. double that for 5Kw.
I have found that some fittings and hose for the oil pressure gauge needs to be cleaned of "Crud" Especially near the oil filter If you have changed the oil and It Is cold outside It can take a while for the oil to heat up and then the oil pressure gauge will settle into it's happy place. If...
Life isn't life unless you learn something every day. I have read the TM's 100's of times, and worked on at least 10 Gen's. but the TM's don't teach experience and that there are smarter people than me.
It's all Good, I've had dinner and stopped kicking my self.[thumbzup] I had another 10Kw AC box, Just swapped them out. Now I have a spare 5Kw box for the future Gen Build If needed? I will learn from this mistake. Now I have a nice 5Kw Gen that needs some loving.
I want to Thank jamawieb for His wisdom, The Idiot award for today go's to Ding, Ding, Ding "MYSELF" I got myself into trouble again assuming my 10Kw Gen was complete with only 40 hours on It and had the correct 10Kw AC box. I got to thinking about what jamawieb said about the CVT1's being...

Here Is a thought, Is there a difference In manufacturer? AIRPAX / HEINEMANN I would love to know someone who had a Gen that would not easily Trip the 10Kw Breaker, what manufacturer and part # they had.
@Guyfang, I assumed It might be 400Hz. That word also gets me into a lot of trouble. I posted In the breaker thread. @Guyfang, The other Breaker CD3-Z75-5 is a 6 Post/Lug. The 60Hz breaker has 12 I believe. I think this is the other difference.
What happen to the old pages? I liked the other. I am going to remove the breaker that Is tripping to see If there's any part #'s on It. I will update when I do.
@jamawieb, I will and I would have never found that by the way. Question for you that you might have an answer. Can I use a 5Kw AC box on a 10 Kw by just replacing the Breaker?
