HMMVW starter Bendix stuck in flex plate

And a $hitload of muscle power to get that bugger out and back in! Some trucks never had the shim in them. Mines been running for 20 years without one.

    M998/HMMWV REPLACEMENT BATTERIES

One of the secrets that Interstate doesn't want you to know is that as the battery supplier to Costco (at least here in California) they take back any batteries Costco has warranty replaced. Costcos warranty simply replaces any battery that gets returned to them. They don't do any testing...

    Broken nut on regulator

People here are more than willing to help you with your problem but your information is pitifully lacking. What HMMWV do you have? What charging system do you have? A picture would have been all that was necessary, Help us help you!

Do a search for "the vampire" and you'll find out.

    Jump Start Hmmwv?

If you already have an M1009 then you may also have a NATO slave cable that's perfectly suited for jump starting your HMMWV. When it arrives if it is totally dead you'll want to check the battery connections for tightness and corrosiom, water levels, and put them on a charge for at least a...

PCB, EESS, 3S, TSU, GPC... Try to figuer them out.

Stepping back a bit regarding the test light vs the multimeter. A test light will only show you if there's some continuity thru the glow plugs and it doesn't care if they're 8 ohms or 800 ohms and the multimeter will show you exactly what their resistance is. This matters because they're all...

Got a bunch of computer stuff, not sure what it is

These computers are some 286 based SAIC sets that were in use for general inventory and information back in the '90s. I bought a batch of them from an EOD group up in Moffet Field and still have a couple around somewhere. I do have full manuals for them if you get that far into them.

    Batteries.... ?

Springer1981, Don't forget your hold down bracket! These batteries have a lot of power in them and will burn thru the body in a blinding flash f they short out when rough handling.

    Batteries.... ?

I've been running 24F flat topped batteries in my 996 for a couple of years now. I got tired of replacing those worthless 6TLs every 2 years. The 24Fs fit right into the original holddown bracket and eliminate all that cable crossing mess that AMG created. A straight forward link between them...

    AN/TRC-75 Radio Transceiver ?

About 20 years back I bought 5 of them from Davilyn Electronics up in the San Fernando Valley. He probably had 20- of them stacked up in his yard. Mike Murphy bought all of them from me and I know that Dave Ross up in Oregon also bought a few. It was an interesting Collins Radio set that fit...

Anyone seen this kind of pintle hitch before?

I think I read somewhere that that pintle extension was used for towing the M777 howitzer.

    60 Amp Regulator Help

Possibly because you have an AMA 5102 alterntor and an AMA 5104 alternator regulator? They look the same and will physically match up but are electrically different. I went thru this about 10 years ago.

    Alternator help

It's a standard 60 amp alternator available from many sources and your cut wires still have their numbering tags on them so a simple download of the TM 9 2320-280-20-3 manual will have a wiring diagram in it that you can use to reterminate them.

saving military communications gear at hamfests

Our local Amateur Radio Club, ASVARO is a complete washout! Covid killed everything here in the SF Bay Area in '20 and '21 and so far they've done their best to continue the void. They tried to get something together last year at a local library that was pathetic. To small an area where they...

    Bad positive rectifier?

I don't see any reason to arbitrairily change out the regulator unless after the diode replacement it fails to control the voltage.

    Bad positive rectifier?

The battery references in the manuals are for military multimeters, not the Klein unit your using. Either way when reading diodes you should see a low resistance in one direction and a very high or near open reading after switching the leads. If you're getting low readings in both directions...

    Rebuild engine dont start

Crack one of the fuel line fittings on an injector and see if it isn't just an issue with bleeding them. It can take a long time for fuel to reach them from in a dry line, certainly much longer than you want to run your starter.
