    Mystery wire………

Sorry for the confusion dstang97, I was asking if those two connectors should be connected “together”. 2 wires, Yellow & Purple with a white stripe into the one Brown connector. Doghead’s reply on the brown wire makes sense as the paring break is unconnected and the break light is on so I bet...

    Mechanics?

Jerchambers, God, allah, (insert your higher power belief here), gave us instincts to keep us alive. Those who don’t listen to them often regret it. If you have a bad feeling about the shop, bring it home. If you friend is mechanically inclined at all, give him the TM’s and have him follow it...

    Where is this located?

That is a great schematic! I like the color coding. Makes it much easier to read and follow. I’ll be heading to that site and checking it out soon. Thanks for the post![thumbzup]

    Mystery wire………

I will check that out…. But I would feel more comfortable if somebody with a CUCV could take a look under their dash for me and see if these two are connected.

    Mystery wire………

My truck has not had a 12V conversion. However, the PO did make his “own” modifications that I am going through and fixing now. Here is the link to it’s story: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?t=78159&referrerid=33516 “To me it looks like the purple wire that goes to the starter...

    Mystery wire………

See the pic below, what is this connector for? Yellow wire and Purple with a white stripe. It was disconnected under the dash and looks like it should connect to the brown wire near the top of the fuse block by the 10A fuse. What do ya’ll think, should I just connect it and see what happens?

    Bubba’s Dump………..

Yes sir, you are correct. I am going to run by Radio Shack tomorrow to see if they have any 300 ohm resistors. Just to see if my gauge is fixable. I was also thinking about replacing it with a modern, more reliable and accurate gauge. Other than the digital ones, do they make an analog...

    Bubba’s Dump………..

Here is a quick one for you: See the pic below, what is this connector for? Yellow wire and Purple with a white stripe. It was disconnected under the dash and looks like it should connect to the brown wire near the top of the fuse block by the 10A fuse. What do ya’ll think, should I just...

    Bubba’s Dump………..

I just got a new VOM and started checking voltage. I was kinda stressing because I did not want to have to spring for a new alternator. Well, I had good readings all over the place, to include 27.1V at output of Gen #2 and 14.5V at the output of Gen #1. Phew, it’s not the alt’s. Followed the...

    Bubba’s Dump………..

The names in this story have been altered to protect the identity of the stupid…….. So, a couple of weeks ago, a buddy turned me onto a 1984 M1009 sitting on the back lot of a local “Battery & Tire” place, further referred to as “Bubba’s Dump” or BD. My buddy knew one of the former mechanics...

    New guy in Northern Va

Good morning gents. My name is Joe and I am a transplanted “Texan” living and working in the Front Royal area of Va. I have been a “car guy” and “shade tree mechanic” all my life, however, I am new to the MV hobby. I have wanted a CUCV for some time now for an inexpensive, reliable hunting...
