Could be low voltage. Check the voltage at the solenoid when this happens. It could be a weak battery or bad connection. When cold starting, and the glowplugs re-energize while cranking, the voltage could go low enough to drop out the solenoid. Do some more testing before replacing anything...

To be clear, the plastic piece that broke off wasn’t from shut off solenoid, it was from the secondary solenoid that has a wire inside the pump, I don’t know what that is for, older humvees don’t have that solenoid in there injection pumps The smaller solenoid is the cold advance solenoid.

The galvanized piece is a heat shield that goes over the exhaust manifold. P/N 12339175. there is another small piece that goes on the end.
