You have much reading and studying to do grasshopper. I was on here for about 7 mnths before I bought a vehicle from a fellow SS'er in 2006 and we are still close friends. Hercules, Continental, and White, all built the multifuel. See if you can find a SS to visit in your area that has a...
Are you aware there is a separate control for the passenger side wiper motor? There is a dial to turn on each side of the steering column for the wipers. I picked one of these up 7.9.13. Mine has flashing lites on the CTIS too. I am going to take my time figuring out/fixing it.
My floor coverings/sound deadening stuff is green too. I unplugged my CTIS, was getting 4 flashing lights and it takes the tires down to about 40 psi. I was talking to some ex military mechanics last weekend that worked on these in service and they joked that when the truck came in for CTIS...
I won one of those too at the end of June, from Nellis AFB in NV, it was rebuilt at the same place yours was, Ft Riley, I gots the same plate on the door area. My engine is dated, built in 2008 and that is the same year of the rebuild in KS. Very clean trucks. Thanks for posting all the...
Lots of variables here..... the 900 series is rated to pull 15,000 lbs but that may not be enuf for backhoe and trailer, the 939 I am talking about. Also with the wedge type air brakes that is different than commercial trucks so long term maintenance and parts may be a problem. I just don't...
your situation may be a tough call. I have owned two deuces, now have a M923a2. I just keep them on streets and do parades. The M923a2 is really nice but for off road I just don't know. The truck is 12 ft tall and 25 feet long and empty, weighs 10 and 3/4 tons. How about a Jeep Rubicon...
I picked up a M923a2 about 6 weeks ago. I have the audible ticking noise near the fuel tank. Are you folks saying this is normal? Thanks for any assistance.
I think you have a M925A2 there. You may possibly be able to bolt in some seats with seatbelts back there to make it legal for passengers. If you keep the top on and put the kids forward, nobody will see them back there except unloading at McDonald's. The thing on top of the toolbox is...
About two yrs ago I had to wait months to pick up a deuce I won but won a M923a2 end of June and picked it up in NV a week and a half later. I studied pics and videos of several trucks at two different sites, then made up my own hand written spreadsheet kind of thing of the ones I was...
Just live it man. : ) Keep reading on here, get the truck, try to find other owners of the rig, join a military vehicle club and have fun. I watch gov liq and it seems like many of these have been rebuilt within the last 6 years and have low miles since rebuild so you probably are not going...
I googled 'BMY of Harsco' its three peoples names and it appears Harsco is some huge amalgamation that owns 50 companies..... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Defense " ...The company started as a division of the agricultural machine business, Food Machinery Corporation (FMC), when they...
Thank you for your service. We need to talk. I just picked up a M923a2 a month ago from Nellis AFB and have some questions on the CTIS.I will send a pm. I think with your knowledge, you will be very helpful to this site. http://www.mvcconline.org/memberrigs%202-5%20ton&upr.html
Maybe try to find a MV club or an owner in your area and look at their's and do a walk around. You can probably find one on Craigslist or Ebay from a private owner. I suggest starting with a deuce, plenty of parts out there. Saturn Surplus, Memphis Equipment, Boyce Equipment, Erik's...
Same thing happened with my cab cover's leading edge on 800 mile retrieval trip this past Tuesday, got it home with duct tape. I then did what friend said to fix it and it worked, already tested it again at 60 mph and the top held on. Use Gorilla Glue, clean up the area, dampen it, apply glue...
