    M1083 Mechanics CA

Ya I hear you, but you know $1000 doesn't go all that far. especially when you are using someone who actually knows what they are doing. $1000 = $500 labor and $500 parts. not to mention many items are not instantly available. all the while it is sitting somewhere and not for free either. Then...

    M1083 Mechanics CA

Curious to know who you are using to ship and the cost. I am in the same boat as you Pun intended. Does it run? if not this could be a big upfront cost. It might be cheaper to trailer it to where you are depending on how far that is.

    Aloha from a newby

Not to hijack this thread But I just got one a M1078 also in Hawaii. I am going through the EUC. It will need batteries but it does run . What I need is a good mechanic to install the batteries and check the 35 psi oil pressure. I think it might be a oil pressure sender or perhaps low on oil...

Staining or painting the floor hump mat?

Google it you will find many options. For me I think a new replacement material might be better. While the original stuff is good it is also old and even new stuff is old. NOS rubber items are not a great option. Looks great until you flex it then you are back to square one.

    M1088 camper conversion

I have heard that there are take offs that were spare tires and never saw the ground. they are like new but they sat in the tire lift in one spot which caused them to have a built in flat spot. Once mounted and used on the ground they are out of round and vibrate badly. Could your new tires be...

Staining or painting the floor hump mat?

There are spray on vinyl dies that work pretty darn good. They do wear off over time but a quick clean and spray and all is like new;)

I have joined the club ! And yes I have lost my mine !

WOW look at all the goodies! :naner:I am very interested in your A/C setup. I think it would be worthy of it's own thread.[thumbzup] That way it would be easier to find and not require digging. I too agree that there are stock parts available to work with, IF, you want to pay ridiculous money...

Adventure Driven's photos and videos of their M1079

Hey Seth, love the videos and your project. A while back you mentioned installing the lifting bed. I would love to see how you did it and some pics and vids. This is what I was thinking of doing too, over the dinette. Thanks

    Buying advice

Here is how I saw/see it.:geek: Auction is the bottom and Acela is the top. Anything other than Acela is most likely going to offer issues at the most inconvenient time and place. It always comes down to Murphy's law. 😡 With this in mind, ask yourself Am I (and my wife) ready and up for an...

    Loose rad fan

Guys thank you so much for all the input. This clears it all up for me. As they say a picture is worth 1000 words. :naner: Seems like a quick fix to an expensive possibility down the road.

LMTV as an RV in California

Where abouts in SoCal do you live? I'm in Riverside. I have a M 1083. If you want to talk and or gawk let me know;)

    M1088 camper conversion

Chris, this is a great start. [thumbzup] I will be following closely. I got our 1997 M 1083 in December 2019. As you noted, buying blind from an auction and, like you, never laying eyes or hand on one in person can be a bit unnerving. But after getting it delivered and having such a great site...

What have you done WITH your FMTV ( trips, Rescues etc) NOT: fixes, updates etc

I like the idea of gaining room for a bigger RV box without having to extend the frame which I have been kicking around. I would like to add my voice to the call out to you to work up a thread on modifying the air filter arrangement and the relocation of the coolant overflow tank ect. How much...

    FMTV High Speed Gears

So It seems to me that m-35tom has what folks need. So I am thinking out loud that I may be interested in 3 of these for my 1997 M-1083. Do you have them for the M-1083? are you offering complete axels or just the HSP gears? please let me know thanks.

UPPER and LOWER cab bushings ! Has anyone made replacements out of heavy rubber?

Clearly some are more than happy to pay what ever for items and to them I say more power to you. However these are simple and made from inexpensive material. If hockey pucks are a viable option then these price gougers will soon have to readjust their prices. If we all roll over and pay they win...

Air Filter CFM requirements for 3116 and 3126

Recce01, are you changing the whole air filter box arrangement or just looking for a more economical solution? I ask as I am thinking of moving all the stuff after the cab so as to put a camper close to the cab and cutting in a pass through access so as to not need to leave the camper to get...

UPPER and LOWER cab bushings ! Has anyone made replacements out of heavy rubber?

I agree There are too many items for these trucks that cost wise do not make sense. These are not the only floating cabs. Could other truck cabs be using something similar? Or could their design be used or modified to make ours better? I am of the camp, that if someone has a better design or...
