Yeah - not a lot you can do when YOUR mechanic agreed with him about shimming. Your guy probably did not see busted off block corner. Still - someone did the hack patch job and obviously knew about the busted casting. Personally, I think he should help on the starter because it is unlikely he...
Make sure you got the inside of the floor coated good - vinyl and insulation traps moisture. Don't want floor rotting out. Seatbelt bolts are high strength. Replace with something as strong. I never understood why they use such long bolts. I ran a tap thru the nut blocks, and replaced the bolts...
I never aimed the laser therm at the rubber outlet hose - maybe that is ok, maybe the rubber insulates a bit. Try the metal on the engine that the hose attaches to and see if the temp is the same.
I don't know about the thread, but I will tell you what we did to align race cars. Piece of 1/4 round molding - because it is stiff and light (PVC does same thing, but more flex). Cut it so it just fit between front edges of the front rims 1/2 way up. Mark the spot on rims. Roll vehicle forwards...
Sounds like a severe toe in or out issue. With that wear rate, you should be able to see it just by kneeling in front of the truck! When checking, front tires should have felt unusually hot. Check steering linkage and suspension. Look for something loose, misassembled or bent. Since Dad...
I don't know about you guys, but I am REALLY enjoying this thread. Someone else is doing all the hard work and figuring out the problems, while I sit here and read:beer:. Great work, Zout.[thumbzup][thumbzup]
Since pan gasket is under minimal pressure, probably could brake clean oil off in vicinity of leak and squeeze RTV in and around leak area. Should get you home and last until you get a new gasket.
What are CR seals? I would check seal first- lube shaft and slide seal on a little before installing it. It should wipe the oil off the shaft as you slide it. If not snug with slight tension - you know it will leak, don't bother installing it - get your $ back and try plan z-66.
Would take more than an oil ring - have to loose compression rings to get that kind of blowby. I think you would hear some piston noises, and like Doghead says in post 42 - lottsa blowby out draft tube.
