Boeshield is expensive. Its like cosmoline in a spray can though. I've heard the outboard mechanics just love it when they have to work on an outboard motor with many years/layers of the stuff all over the powerhead :-P.
Stonepicker1 told me that it could be done. As far as what solvent, and how many times I dunno. Sounds viable though. Perhaps let it soak in odorless mineral spirits, blow it out/let dry, then reinstall?
I know, but I like to thoroughly check my brakes for air leaks and function. To me THAT is more important. I don't need to idle forever just to get going, so if I can kill two birds with one stone (warm up, check brakes), so be it. If <=1000 RPM is so harmful, why is fast idle on warmup so...
My tan deuce looks like it was brush painted. Looks good from a distance. Oh well, maybe when I re paint it I will use a brush.

wvhillbilly, I respect your opinion, but I'll take quantity please ;-). No really, I think some of us like the hunt, the challenge, and the adventure of the recovery. The eventual headaches are part of it. I'm taking a break from GL though because after 3 great trucks (one duece has a newer...
Although this is awful for the OP, these types of posts are far more useful than the successful recovery posts. This helps some of us come to grips with reality when doing recoveries. We really need to have more cash on hand when planning. I am guilty of doing a recovery or two with change in...
Perhaps there isn't a sense of urgency by the GL staff. In other words, they bring you to your truck, have you sign the paper, then leave you saying "I'll be over there if ya need help." Then the thief is free to pick parts from the surrounding trucks. Again, it all depends on GL folks giving...
