If you like to work on vehicles, you will find a wealth of knowledge here on this site. There are experts here on almost any military vehicle... I’m not one of them. So I read a lot of posts and try to learn as much as I can from these folks. This really is a great place to hang out!
In Michigan we are having problems with titles. For whatever reason, our genius legislators and Secretary of State view the HMMWV differently than other HMVs. I worry that they will start applying the same irrational restrictions on all HMVs.
As it stands, HMMWVS are titled for off road use...
What are cut offs? The thing I don’t like about LED headlights in general is they too bright. When you consider how high off the ground our headlights are, I would not want to be in a car in front of me or in on-coming traffic. Do cut offs somehow dim them down some?
I built my RV on a M934 . I bought a 16’ camping trailer that someone stored on a grassy spot. The trailer was like new inside but the floor was rotted out. The appliances still had stickers on them. Stove with oven, refrigerator gas and 120v, complete water system, shower, bathroom vanity...
I put floor mats in my 934. I made them out of 1/2” thick rubber mats made for horse trailers. Bought it at Tractor Supply. The best way to cut it is with a saber saw using a metal blade. They are made from recycled tires and there are bits of steel inside the rubber. The top side has a diamond...
Welcome to the addiction, er uh I mean hobby, ya that’s it, it’s a hobby. I keep forgetting.
You’ve landed in a great place for intel and friendship. Keep coming back and you’ll see what I mean.
When I bought my truck it had been sitting for eight years. It had 5,000 miles on it. All ten radial tires had flat spots. I tried to use inflation changes and drove it around for a year. It shook so bad, it would almost take the wheel out of my hands at 45 mph. It would be tolerable above 50...
If I could offer one word of advise. Be careful how much weight you add to this truck. I’ve seen these campers built too heavy and the rear end sags. Use as many light weight materials as possible. When I built out my M934, I removed about 2,500 lbs of stuff (all the expansible parts). After...
This is a 1970 M151. It scored a 99.07% at the 2017 MVPA convention. I’m not bragging. We had a lot of help from two very talented friends. I can say that every stencil and sticker is there and in the correct position. My friend, Steve Koenig, knows these 151’s and he did a ton of research. He...
When we restored our 151a2, we replaced everything made of rubber. Wire harness, grommets, bushings, etc. wiring is critical. Bad wiring can start a fire, leave you on the side of the road or consume your week ends while you chase gremlins. I think it’s some of the best money you can spend...
It’s called M-thrax. It could be trucks, jeeps, tanks, generators.... It doesn’t matter. There is no know cure. Once you have it, you’re stuck with it. I’ve Been dealing with it for years.🙁
I’d like to see some pictures of your walk through. I have a 934 converted to a “ motor home” but it is registered and insured as an AM General truck. If you are still looking for RV insurance, you might try General RV. They have an insurance department.
