    LMTV jumper pigtail

Another option is to wire in your own pigtail for your charger and just hook it to the battery terminals in the box. That's what I did with my Noco Genius. It would be cheaper than buying a NATO plug just to use for that. Just an option :-)

    Rear canvas question

It's a little hard to tell from the pictures, but does that frame have one piece hoops? My cargo frame breaks down so the legs come off the top bows. Does your Cherokee have a roof rack? Put the hoops on the roof rack, with legs hanging down. Turn them so the legs are closer to the body of...

Spotted an M1078 LMTV with a camper on the back

I was fishing out on Cape Lookout (NC outer banks) and spotted an LMTV with a camper on the back. My dad had sent me a picture of it earlier in the week and then when I got over to fish we spotted it on the south end rolling right along in the sand. I introduced myself and met member...

    LMTV rear brake chambers

That was probably my post that you saw. Surely a truck parts place can order a diaphragm for you. The ones near me didn't have the size 9 in stock but they could all order it, so that's what I did. The generic replacements are just a diaphragm and do not have the plunger assembly glued to it...

    Rear canvas question

Those curved top pieces are the hardest to deal with. They are the width of the truck bed and come down the sides just a little. All the other pieces are just straight poles that can be bundled together nicely.

Air leak, front emergency gladhand, no air at rear gladhands

The culprit was one of the two way check valves mounted behind the driver's side step/box. I actually replaced two of those valves so I'm not positive which one was the problem. I replaced the top 2 of the 3 that are mounted in that area. You can rebuild the valves if you would prefer. I see...

Was Stranded at gas station in Newton Grove, NC.

If your truck is still in GSO and if you need anything let me know. I live about 3 miles from Parker :-) I just saw this thread today. I was coming back from the outer banks on Tuesday when all this happened.

License plate frame with LED lights...use on LMTV

For the actual license plate, I am using rare earth magnets from old computer hard drives and the license plate held to those with a couple small machine screws and a couple zip ties. It sounds cheesy but it holds the plate very solidly and hasn't moved in two years. I put the license plate on...

    m1078 recovery

On the headlights, I had a similar problem. The fix for me was to tighten up the connectors inside the relay sockets. They are just female spade connectors and they become loose over time. I used a small screwdriver or pick to slightly bend out the contact pieces a little so they would make...

    FMTV/LMTV Steering Play Solved

Polyurethane boots on the new ones? The boots on mine are cracked.

Type III and IV Cargo Bed Covers

Those covers/shelters seem pretty neat but I have not seen one in person. I joked a while back about making a hi/lo camper setup out of one. I would really like to see one to really check it out.

    FMTV LMTV Tire balancing?

Excessive toe in can certainly cause wear and instability. I thought most solid axle vehicles used a small amount of toe in, but maybe these could be different since they are all wheel drive. Mine came from the auction with over an inch of toe in which is no good. I use a piece of masking...

    Pto?

Is this just how the transmission controller is programmed? The FMTV wrecker I thought had an override for this so you can engage the PTO for winch while the transmission is engaged?

    FMTV LMTV Tire balancing?

Are you referring to the toe in? My truck had over an inch so I readjusted it to about 1/4" of toe in. Hopefully won't wear the tires as badly. You want just a little toe in.

2016 Ga Military Vehicle Rally buy/sell/trade thread

Looking for a 50' / 15m antenna mast. I cannot make it to the rally, but I have friends who are going and can transport.

    m1078 com antenna

Awesome. Let me know how that works out. I have one of those same bases that I took off my truck so that I could use one of the broadband VHF/UHF antennas with ham radios. I could pick up the rest of the antenna and use it for the 6 meter band on ham radio.

    m1078 com antenna

There are several antennas on eBay. With the right amount of googling you can also probably figure out the numbers for the upper and lower mast sections so you could purchase them separately if needed. I have ordered from this site and this looks like what you need possibly (don't quote me on...

I need to be schooled on ltmv rear tarp and bows

The frame could be easily shortened. For an LMTV the horizontal poles could be shortened just enough to make them work. The cover itself is a rubberized material with ultrasonic welds for all the seams. It might be tough to shorten an FMTV cover to the appropriate length, or at least tough...

    Working on the M1078 LMTV

My cover doesn't have those integrated pockets that look like they snap over the poles. Mine has straps that run along both sides (inside the cover) and nothing in the center of the top. I had the same water problem. For now I have taken a couple sheets of thin plywood and put them across the...

I need to be schooled on ltmv rear tarp and bows

If you make one, I would suggest making the horizontal support poles from either stainless or aluminum. That is what I want to do on mine one day. I have the (gen2?) style where it all disassembles. Some of the horizontal supports have bad rust spots. The straps that hold the tarp against...
