What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Yeah they're different, they're full of ticks spreading lyme disease. 😯. 🤨. 😂

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Try to keep this brief: Last year bought a great used set of studded snow tires. Heard some rubbing but no big deal Today it was time to put them on again. The wheels are 16" chrome-ish steel from a later model chevy pickup. Today while it was lifted I spun the wheel and heard the...

What did you do to your trailer today.

Bolted to the deck? Weird. They seem to sell for much more than I would be willing to pay- but fortunately my M1101 came with a set, which are locked inside unless I'm using the trailer. Check ebay for going rates, but someone that ended up with a trailer and didn't get the legs will want them.

What did you do to your trailer today.

The two support legs look like they're for an M1101/2 trailer. Clean them up and sell them.

    Best CUCV replacement dash pad

I found a NOS replacement on craigslist a few years ago. It was stuffed into an attic crawlspace and forgotten- guy sold the truck. You should regularly search cl with the search term "K5" and see what comes up- sometimes it's surprising. I'm still looking for a half-cab setup to appear. I...

TWO batteries?! That's way better than one, and not excessive like three would be.

    Washington M1009 (re)build thread

Do that last. The wandering and constant steering correction are an essential element of the CUCV's charm.

Sounds like you need a break. Ship it out to WA and I'll assume the grief in your place. Looks like you have enough bikes to fool with already.

    Adjustable pintle hitch receiver?

When I bought my first M1101 I used the less expensive riser to get the pintle up to the height of the lunette ring- I would come to regret that. The one I bought was less expensive because it was rated lower, and was also a bit smaller. So while making a sharp turn in the Sears parking lot...

Any Issue in Covering the Hubs of an M1102

Those are the factory bow supports that come with the trailer- if you got them. Mine did not, and I had to source them separately. I found an industrial electrician to bend the conduit for me. He did them all in one shot without mistakes- unlike the mess I would have made.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Details! How much paint of each color did you use? Sprayed on? Using? If so, did you spray the cammo too or brush on those colors? I was hoping to do mine this summer but couldn't get to it while it was still dry. Maybe next summer!

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Tackled the heater core today. The new one was not as thick as the old one, but was making appreciable heat once the truck warmed up. I was surprised there's so many gaps in the duct work, it sort of guides the air to where you want it, but certainly not compulsory. Here's the old one.

Fuel shut off solenoid exploded internally!?!

When mine died and I replaced it, I connected the old one to the battery and it snapped smartly like it was still good, but I remember it was HOT to the touch.

Someone @ GP bumped their head!

Maybe it's an inside job.... - "Empty" wooden crates that aren't really empty. - High opening bid keeps the riff-raff away. - Your uncle Bob bids and wins it at $1K - When he gets them home finds they're full of NVGs or something. - Profit.

    Replacing lift pump

Does the 6.2 need a dab of petrolatum to hold the shaft in place?
  19. Mainsail

Fuel shut off solenoid exploded internally!?!

No, the solenoid is powered (has electricity going to/though it) holding the valve in the open position against spring pressure any time the key is in the ON position (running or not). The solenoid builds heat as it's working. To unlock the steering the key has to be in the ON position...
