Lucky in one sense, Warthog, but at the moment I don't have $26K lying around. :-( I can't complain, though. I drive an M1009 almost every day. My olive drab 1930 Ford Model A Town Sedan sits next to my wife's 1960 M422 Mighty Mite in the garage.
I LOVE your setup!!!! It looks fantastic! [thumbzup]:jumpin: I can only dream of owning a rig as nice as yours. Also, this is a long post but I have lots of ideas that I want to share.
I'm also a 'computer guy' and a 'network guy'. :-) Is that an aluminum Chatsworth rack in...
Thank you, sir. I have to find out why the coolant reservoir was nearly empty and I had to add 1/2 gal of coolant to the radiator, and why I smelled hot coolant the last time I drove it. I replaced the radiator a couple of years ago so I don't think that's the reason for my problem. I might call...
My M1009 has become my full-time daily driver. I think my Police Interceptor needs a new water pump. I haven't had time to confirm my suspicions. It's cheaper to drive my CUCV than my CVPI anyway. I get about 20 MPG city in the CUCV, and 14-17 MPG city in my Crown Vic.
chief1983: Don't buy the hood insulation from LMC. Go to my post #828 in this thread. I installed a 4'x6' insulation blanket I bought from Jeg's. :-) It really helps reduce engine noise. The glow plugs don't work as hard to heat the engine up on cold winter mornings (yes, it does get down to 32...
Great idea!! :-) Another advantage to using rollers is that you can use low/no VOC paint, and you can avoid the discomfort of wearing a respirator. (I ALWAYS wear a NIOSH certified dual filter respirator when I use aerosol paints.)
Here's another few thoughts: drain the radiator into a bucket. Check the surface for oil. Pull the top radiator hose off of the radiator, point the hose towards the ground, and run a hose to the top of the radiator. Put an empty bucket under the truck to catch the water coming out of the...
Welcome to Steel Soldiers! :-) I live in the Central Florida area. I added you to my Central Florida Events Mailing List so you can find out about the fun events we have happening around here. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?114068-Central-Florida-Events-Mailing-List&highlight=

Rustyshackleford: I had a bunch of gunk in the overflow tank of my M1009; none of it was oil though. I was unable to easily remove the tank to wash it out while the radiator was installed, so I shoved a high pressure garden hose in the tank and flushed the crud out for about 5 minutes. When the...
As to your points: dried out gaskets are very common. Replacing the rear window crank is a pain in the neck, but doable. I bought a replacement reproduction crank handle for under $40. 3 through 5 are routine maintenance. If you buy the truck, read my sticky on replacing the steering tie rod...
We had 8 vehicles in the parade. We had a convoy of four head over to Rock & Brews. I really appreciate y'all supporting the events I organize. It means a lot to me. The coordinator for the Geneva Parade really wants us back again next year. Here are pictures of our lineup.
