    Antenna Mount nutsert tool

The 1984 M1009 had the antenna mounts at the rear of the vehicle, while the 1985 and 1986 models had them up front. I don't believe they ever came from Chevy with both locations having the nutserts. That was likely done at the unit or depot level.

    M1102 Trailer Value?

I towed my M1101 back from the auction pick-up with my M1009 no problem. I wouldn't tow it with a load with that vehicle, but empty is fine. I paid $750 for my second M1101 and sold the HMMWV wheels for $400. So far it's saved me at least a couple thousand in delivery charges for gravel and...

    Custom Security System

Think sensory overload. You can get some pain generators (very high pitched loud speakers) mounted inside along with some strobes also mounted inside. Even if the alarm is ignored by you and your neighbors, they won't be able to sit inside long. I have most of the parts to do this in my...

Take your ohm meter around to all the bulb sockets- make sure the outer part of each socket is demonstrating a good ground.

    Value of custom USO seats?

They're not torn and look reasonably comfortable. Throw some walmart seat covers on them and go. Congrats on the new wheels!

Before you button that all up, get some anti-seize on all the bolts in case it ever needs to come apart again.

    Questions, issues with my CUCV

I would put my bets on fuel or transmission. Easiest first though. When you start from a stop, can you hear/feel it shift from 1st, to 2nd, and then to 3rd? Drop the shift lever all the way to 1st, then when it's rolling good bump it (carefully) into 2nd- did it shift? Then do the same to 3rd.

Some follow-up to my Duke antenna install. I picked up a pretty good SWR meter and here are the results. Much better than I was expecting, especially given it's a pre-tuned antenna and it's inside that thick tube.

There is no such thing as a civilian dash pad. They're just dash pads.

Chronicle of a tan M1101 trailer purchase from GovLiquidation.com

The one I got that is chronicled in this thread is gone now. I needed to sell it (made about $1K) because I lost my storage space in the garage. I have since picked up another one in the same condition for about $220 less. I would also love to find a cover (or any of the components for the...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Thanks to member Shackelford R I finally got some antenna whip elements that actually screw together. I moved the whip over to the driver's side and the Duke over to the passenger. The whip even tied down was hitting low hanging branches along the roadside, so moving it to the left side away...

What did you do to your trailer today.

I pressure washed the M1101 this afternoon, and got very wet doing so. The Pacific Northwet has been doing its thing, and the trailer had a layer of brown mold. All the tie-down pockets were full if dirt, so much so you could barely pull the rings up. I managed to blow all the GovPlanet...

What did you do to your trailer today.

The retaining wall along my driveway wasn't retaining itself anymore, so I used my trailer to haul home a half yard of gravel, then 2000# of block, then another half yard of gravel. I could feel that 2K pounds behind me, made the Hemi work for a change.

    WA registration issues

Your insurance man may be able to work out a depreciated value- after all that's what they'll pay out if you wreck it. I never had any issue but mine was plated when I bought it. The only problem I had was my insurance company refused to believe the VIN. I finally had to take a picture of the...

    Air Horn not fitting

I had a big-rig single trumpet air horn in my Ford Ranger. I shelled the plastic off a cheap air compressor and wired it to a switch on the dash. The air compressor pumped into a tank thru a check valve with a T fitting to a dual needle pressure gauge. One needle told the tank pressure, the...
