    NY Deuce owners

I will check those guys out, thank you. I’m from the island originally, but haven’t lived there in years. That’s a bit far for me, but thank you for the offer. I’d like to get the “Full” Deuce experience, so an A2 with whistler turbo, winch, and ndt’s

    NY Deuce owners

I’ve been thinking of joining the Deuce owners club, but have never been around one or driven in one. I’m currently an LMTV owner, so no stranger to military trucks. Is there anyone in the Albany, NY or Hudson valley area that can meet with me for some Deuce counseling? I can bring my Barbie...

[SOLVED] 1997 M1088 pressure release valve at 30psi?

Check for mud nests in your brake vent lines. Not sure where they are on your truck, but on my 1078 they are right above the axle. I had mud in mine causing leaks in my brake cans.

There is the letter L stamped in the end of the stud for “Left hand thread” too.

    Wrong replacement engine fan...

Thank you. This is on my to do list very soon. I found several of my fan mounting bolts (Allen head ones) loose when I bought the truck.

    U-Joint removal

Yes, it does. Just be sure to remove your zerk fittings before hand.

    Source for 6TL Battery

Yup, four 24s for me also. If I had it to do over again, I would have gone with 31s though for the higher cca and lower height. When it’s around zero degrees, those extra cca come in handy.

    Wrong replacement engine fan...

Yes, remove the rubber spacer, and bolt back together. Coffey, do you remember what size/length bolts you need once the spacer is removed?

    LMTV M1078 Tachometer

Wonder if they make one small enough to fit in the useless air filter gauge hole.

Engine down, blew out all the oil...

I remember reading of someone having it welded professionally, but they had to remove the compressor for the guy so he had room to work. Most of the people have just replaced the cover though. Is your compressor support bracket on the rear by the power steering pump cracked or loose? It seems...

LMTV Alternator Disaster, engine now catastophic

Another gentleman used a product called “Lock and stitch” which worked great for him. Not sure if was a welding or brazing product, but he said it is very strong. He really uses his truck too (unlike me), and hauls heavy loads and such. So far it has held up well. Just another option for you.

Thank you for this. I’ll check out big mikes. I’ll probably need a few dozen of them as all of mine are shot.

Spanky, Where did you source your connectors? Mine are all cracked like that too. Did you just replace the rubber cover, or the connector and everything?

    Looking for a M1079 Mechanic

Louie Corona on the Facebook group had some work done at a shop in westchester county. He said they were very good and reasonably priced. I don’t remember the name of the place at the moment.

Engine down, blew out all the oil...

Whew, you’re the first person I’ve heard of that hasn’t roasted their engine after this line breaks. I need to do mine as it is rusty, sooner than later.

    Air brake can leaking

Ok, thank you Wes. I’m going to just replace the whole can then. I’m not comfortable opening them up. Superman, do you have one of these?

    Air brake can leaking

Was adjusting my brake shoes today (.030”) and came across a leak I had not noticed before because of the non standard configuration of the parking brake. Air tanks full, engine off, and parking brake disengaged with wheels chocked. The drivers side, rear tire, rear brake can leaks air from...

Trading up, nervous though. Stewart Stevenson M1078 LMTV Camper Build....

I got a quote from a shipper of just under 5k to the west coast port. You have to pay someone to get it to the port in Hawaii though, and then pay someone to pick it up for you in Seattle. There was a guy that checked a lot of the Hawaii trucks out, and he said they have tons of bent driveshafts...
