Also, I managed to reactivate the rear window with the new guts from LMC. As soon as I got it working one of the nylon rollers started jumping out of the track. :-x Since I couldn't make the roller any bigger, I massaged the track a little smaller with a hammer. It seems to be holding for...
I have a couple of questions I haven't seen addressed.
Has anyone found a liner that works for the rear wheel wells? I know the truck makes plenty of noise, but a liner would go a long way towards quieting the truck.
Can I take a swing-away exterior tire carrier from a doner K5 and screw it...
I don't know why I can only post tiny pictures here. My website has the pictures; click on the picture for the full size. topohiker news
The engine compartment is super clean.

The fuel gauge only goes up to ¼ tank, even when full. It...
I'm sure you know this but don't try the 4WD out on the pavement. I once sold a 4WD truck and told the guy not to put it in 4WD unless he was off the pavement. Imagine my horror when I watched him stop a few hundred yards away and engage the front. He drove up to me with the tires chirping...
Here’s my new to me 1986 M1009. It has 93K on the odometer, but the motor was replaced about 5K miles ago and the tranny may have been because it shifts nice and tight. The engine compartment is super clean, it has no rust anywhere, and fires up without drama.
I need to fix a few small...
I don't think I paid more than about five bucks for it. Any home center (Lowes or HD) or building supply store should have them. EDIT to add: It only works with the little motorcycle sized license plate. When I registered my trailer they asked me which one I wanted. What? I have a choice...
I took my trailer out for the day, since it's now all legal like. I snapped a picture of the tongue/hitch at full extension. I think I could get by with only one quick-link, although in the picture I have the equivalent of two. I'm using a snap hook I already had.
I wandered around the local home center and found this Simpson Strong Tie AC4Z. I figured if I bend it over, it'll hold the plate just fine. While I was there I picked up a can of Cammo Tan paint so the license plate bracket would match the trailer.
I went down to the DOL this morning and transferred the title which will come by mail in about six weeks. Now I have to figure out where and how to mount the little license plate on the trailer, preferably without drilling any holes. It lightened my wallet by $56, but it will be a lot easier...
OK, the email came yesterday (11 April) but apparently the paperwork didn't actually get into the mail until today:
This morning, 13 April:
Same day, just checked again:
Looks good. One thing you might have missed is the safety chains. Using that pintle setup puts the trailer farther behind the tow vehicle than normal due to the angled support and the extra height. Stop by Home Depot or Lowes and pick up two or four Quick Links. Or, you could do what I did...
I got an email today that the titling documents went in the mail today, with a USPS tracking number.
I can't complain, that's pretty fast service (and it's my first SF97).
I wonder if I can get a plate with just whatever they're sending or if I need the WSP to inspect the thing first.
UPDATE on mine: I sent in the SF97 application right after I brought the trailer home, so March 24th or 25th, and charged my account on April 3rd. We'll see how long it takes.
That was going to be my next question. Can I put a regular tire on the split rims? Can I buy a used set of H1, H2, or H3 rims that would work?
If I could put some 30" tires on the trailer it might sit much closer to the Jeep's height
Here in WA it cost me $30 for a three day pass to pick up the trailer. I only needed one day but they only sell three day, so I took the trailer out with me the next day while I did some errands.
The trailer has run-flat tires, so keep that in mind. I didn't stress over getting a...
The link I provided is where the pictures are. topohiker news and scroll down.
The way the other guy did it was to stand them both on end and attach them, then roll one onto its wheels. So it would look like one upside down trailer on top of another.
nanlin, there are pictures and details in my blog: topohiker news The pictures are all thumb-nailed so click on them to see the larger versions.
If you have a stout truck, it may be possible to stand them both on end and lash them together and tow them both home at once. I saw some pictures...
