My suggestion, even though you don't own one....yet, download all the manuals and study up, that way when you do get one, you will be even more ahead of the class. They dont cost a thing, and they are a good way to pass free time.
The headlights in the low position usually means it is an older truck. Early years they came mix and match, but later they went to the high position for all the trucks.
Correct paint or not I think it looks great.
Since you are not going to be flying this, can you make some type of tie down for the rotors that connects to the top of the air frame? It would make it out of the reach of most people, and use the normal tie downs your using for transport.

Fuel can does not normally get painted.
My winch extensions are painted, as see in the pic.
Just a guess on the slide hammer, I would bet you truck mostly towed a fuel trailer (forget the numbers) and that was for the grounding of the trailer. Just a thought.
