I have one that does that as well, I shoot WD40 down it and soak it then beat the daylights out of it. One of these days I am going to replace that socket.
Since the piece is broke off, get a small diameter piece of pipe and go at it from underneath the pocket
well looking at the interior pic (#4), I would say the window looks off track and is an easy fix. the hood for the most part can be popped back out, the crease might not.
I would go up the and find anyone at the station and chat with them, or find the chief. And see what he says.
Actually the digital pattern was used on vehicles starting in the 80's (on US vehicles) in Germany, there is a thread on here about it and an article in Military Vehicles Magazine.

Heck, I'll admit to running with my truck in low. The day mine came home, I didnt look to see what position it was in (checked everything else out on it) was heading down the road cursing up a storm. when I got into my parking lot I realized it. Total trip in low..just over a mile.

The HMMWV is not slow by any means, I had an M1097 with shelter and towing a 5K generator, doing 70 before. Granted it was flat land. So much for the 45 MPH convoy speed. The 2 deuces we had in the convoy both needed new engines after that haul.
