I made a day trip down last year for some trail rides in my HMMWV and had a good time. I'd like to come down and camp overnight and get some more trail time in this year, schedule pending. Glad to hear Bulldogger is going to come down and make sure the HMMWVs will fit before hand. :D
Hey all,
Doing some wiring in the HMMWV and I have a question. I have a switch panel that I don't really want to run load through the switches, so I want to use relays and just use the switches to close the load circuit in the relay. So here's my question: I have a Blue Sea 6 fuse panel...
I dealt with this lovely situation....had to pull the entire crossover off the truck and take it to a local shop. I didn't have an EZ-out big enough to get the body of the switch out. Now to put everything back together and put coolant in it.
or unless you want to drive your FMV to work occasionally, or to the store, or anywhere else that a cop could ticket you for as "not recreational" at his discretion.
We spoke at the Senate sub-committee today and They amended the bill to say that if you choose to get a state inspection and regular plates that you would have unrestricted use. That’s a GREAT thing.
However, we talked to the State Trooper in charge of the state inspection program and they will...
This bill mandates that all FMVs wear the proposed plate. If you have “the right plates” for daily use you have until 1/1/19 to reregister or your current registration is invalidated. All I really want is for them to make standard passenger plates an option if I choose to pass state...
The bill has been changed multiple times, and the most current version that crossed over to the Senate is really bad news.
We are meeting at the Equestrian Statue at the NW corner of the capitol building (in front of the GA building) at around 1:30 or so to go and speak at the transportation...

I was discussing that very thing with someone else earlier. Later in the bill it talks about state inspections. I think that is sufficient, as that is what other vehicles must do to prove road worthiness.
Exactly. I meant there was no indication that they were coming after titles prior to this horrible bill. Point being, this is not a benefit to HMMWV owners.
There has been NO indication that VA is targeting HMMWVs that have received plates/titles for revocation, so I'm not sure how that's relevant. I don't know anyone in VA that hasn't been able to successfully title/tag a HMMWV. This law, in my opinion, will discourage people from buying HMMWVs...
This is NOT a nod to HMMWV owners. I have a HMMWV that I can drive anywhere, anytime, for any reason today. If this passes un-amended, I could be charged with a misdemeanor for driving my truck to the store for groceries and lose the registration on my truck for 5 years. NOT a good deal for...
We have full registration here today. I have a VA titled, tagged, inspected M998 I can drive anywhere, any time for any reason. We are facing losing that if this passes.
I have no way to know how it was sold to the company that titled it, but I'm sure an EUC was attached.
I just think that this bill in particular is a wolf in sheeps clothing. It fooled SEMASAN and they are trying to get FMV folks to support it. All it does is limit my ability to use a truck...
I'm not sure what you mean. I bought an M998 that was titled in UT. All I did was transfer it in state like any other vehicle. I went and got the truck state inspected and then went to the DMV and got VA title and registration for it. There was no "getting around the rules".
I don't support this bill AT ALL. If you read it carefully, it limits for what purposes you may drive a FMV on public roads. Driving your HMMWV to work will be a class 4 misdemeanor if this passes. We will probably be going down to Richmond to fight this. If there were any provision in here...
