Got the troop seats done today. Should be the end of the major painting detail. As I have said there is always touch up you will see the need for in the next couple of months or so. The Rapco paint rattle cans blend in with the gallon can stuff very well and are a easy touch up deal. One...
Forgot to mention the yellow markings paint info for you folks wanting to do an AF blue truck. My earlier post about the correct FSN for the yellow is still correct. But when I used it I noticed it is exactly the same color as the recommended Rust-Oleum farm equipment color used for older...
Here are some pics from today. This truck as all my stuff is done in a MV "Motor Pool Class" detail. I decided to not do the "FOR OFFICAL USE" marking on the door. Only a very few of the trucks we had in the late 50s had that marking on them and the ones that did were civilian trucks and not...
For years I have used Truck-Lite 47DB and 47ADB lens in my trucks. You can find them most everywhere and if you shop a little some are very cheap. You can use the stick on feature if you want or just mount with the stick on stuff unstuck. By the looks of the ones you are using I would suspect...
You guys are right. Snuffy can get into the glove box in a quick moment. Heck if he has his big brother "cool dude" with him he can start and have the whole truck in less time than it would take him to figure out how the get into the glove box.
Here are a couple of pics of the truck. As you can see there are spots that need touch-up, always are it seems. Also I need to do the undercoating, axle painting, new wipers and new seat covers etc.. I think I have beaten out the cold weather so far as it has been in the upper 40s and 50s...
Finally found the correct yellow for the markings on a strata blue AF truck. It is FS33538 It is covered by MIL-STD-808A. Which is a updated MIL-STD-808 document from December 1960. I Down loaded the A version to verify the data. Info is located near the bottom of the web page listed below...
I did find a very nice Strata Blue truck on the net a couple of weeks ago. It belongs to Graf's collection. He has some very good MV items. It looks to be a earlier M35 gasser. Lower mounted headlights etc. The markings are just about as I remember them in the late 50s-60s, nothing but the...
Well after a long slow cleanup I finished the strata blue paint job. It seemed to me it is a little harder to get good coverage with the blue than other trucks I have done over the years in camo, Army OD or Marine OD. Darn painting is all about good lighting so I have a little touch up to do...
It just took a long time to get to it. We should get to doing your van some day.............or better yet you should take my M818 camper van off my hands. In the pics the van is still on the deuce it now has a M818 5 ton under the van. The 5 ton fits perfect as far as spacing for wheel...
As I remember the markings on the 6927th RSM trucks at Onna Point, Okinawa in 58-60 they looked something like this:
(this truck is a 1971 so it will be mark as a 71)
doors:
US AIR FORCE
71K xxxx
FOR OFICIAL USE ONLY (SMALLER LETERS)
front bumper markings: (as viewed from the front of the...
Does anyone have any good pictures of 50s' to early 60s AF blue tactical vehicles. All the tactical vehicles we had in the USAFSS mobile units were blue from 58-64 as I remember them. I see some AF blue trucks on the net with "US AIR FORCE" on the hood, I never saw any blue AF TAC vehicle in...
A couple of days ago I checked with SS to find out how much battery acid was needed to charge a 6TL. This was the thread I found. However the thread does not directly spell out the amount need to charge a dry charged 6TL battery.
I had two 6TL batteries still in the original boxes. There was...
A while back I had a few (6) MERDC mules. All were purchased by the USMC none were Army purchased and were manufactured 68-70. They were all disposed of by Ellsworth AFB DRMO. I think at one time (late 70s or early 80s) they had 12 MERDEC units. The pictures of a few are not to good but if...
Jim have Dan stop on his way down to your place as I have 2 doors and a front bumper that need to go your way. All are totally rust free. The bumper came off of the blue AF M37. The bolts had not one spec of rust on them so it was just like taking the nuts off of a new vehicle. The parts on...
OK There were a few of that generation M37 trucks assigned to the 6917th RGM, USAFSS site at San Vito dei Normanni air station (located near Brindisi) in the early 60s. All were M37B1s.
