FNG with M1009 from Alabama! Roll Tide!

Good looking machine. Stay low, and come back safely. The last mod on yer list is the first one I did on my Big Girl. It has cut into others getting done.

M1010 fire rig to camper conversion

Please don't shoot the messenger, but I thought you already knew the "right" pulley is scarce as hen's teeth ( rare ). One idea if the love tap method or replacement aren't viable MIGHT be to convert the accessory drive to the serpentine style used on later models. I DO NOT know for sure if...

M1010 fire rig to camper conversion

If somebody already addressed it, I missed it and I apologize. The remaining wobble in the bottom pulley can only be "cured" one of two ways, replace the pulley or apply some "love taps" to the old one. The balancer going ( this time, or before ) probably caused the run-out in the pulley. I...

5 ton questions help a newbie out

Ahhh, understand. Legal B.S. : ) Would make a nice Wildland Interface truck for some Dept. if they found an AWD chassis to drop it on.

    Another CUCV M1008....

[thumbzup] [thumbzup] [thumbzup] [thumbzup] The injector leak might clear itself up too ( o-ring swells back up ) with use but yes that's any easy fix if needed. No sugar tonight !

    Another CUCV M1008....

IF they sugared the tank, it's still laying in the bottom.   I always laughed when cars came in with that complaint. I always translated it as, "I tried to fix it and have NO idea what I'm doing so God only knows what is wrong with it now that I messed with it along with the...

5 ton questions help a newbie out

That body would not work well on a Deuce except for looks. With a full tank of water ( looks like 1000 gal. ) and foam, and equipment that body will weigh in around 7 tons. Fire apparatus are notorious for being "overweight". A "bobbed" 5 - ton would work if the springs are upgraded to take...

Factory air cleaner decals- still available?

I've seen the generic fill-in-the-blank decals, but are the original ones out there somewhere or reproduced? My 813 is an AM Gen. so the Kaiser Jeep version would be a little older. Am very interested in finding the decals and also trying to figure out how to "refurbish" the exterior data...

Welcome from Lancaster, PA ! THAT appears to be one well loved and cared for machine. My hope for you is that the nice paint isn't covering a myriad of sins. Don't wanna be a downer but too many of them are "in need". :driver:

'86 CUCV 1009 -Left rear upper bracket - shock

Was just gonna post that if cucvrus didn't have it or know where to get it then it can't be had. If memory serves, all the GM rear shock brackets ( C and K with leaf springs ) are the same for the side they're on. They used the same staggered set-up since '72.

HET / M1070 To Pull The Sled this Thursday the 26th need advice!

There is a very old saying, " if ya wanna play, yer gonna pay ". If this is just an exhibition pull, I would talk to the organizer / sled operator and have them set the sled so you can do a "full pull" but just barely. They should know just how much "slide" to put in the sled to achieve this...

Won an M1083A1 - 1900 mile recovery trip soon! (ND to CA)

Don't know what the laws might be out your way but instead of the Bluetooth speaker I wear over the ear Bluetooth headphones. Get some noise cancellation and can hear the music and take phone calls ( only in emergency ). Not sure it's legal, per se, but several LEOs have seen it and I even had...

    New XM818 made it home!

That's why I wish ARB, or Eaton made a selectable locker for the Rockwell's. When ya need it, NOTHING else will do, but . . . when not needed it's no different than having anspool in there. Unless you idle around every turn, or have selectable hubs, it will NOT steer. Winfred, I am amazed...

    G177 tires on Deuce

Clinto : Original tires versus G177s Thanks Clinto, I wasn't sure if he got 177's to match the original size or went bigger. No different than trying to fit 35's on a stock K10 / 20 / 30. One mod effects everything else.

M1010 fire rig to camper conversion

Welcome from Lancaster, PA and WOW ! Super nice M1010. Your post was kinda long so for now I'll just hit a coupla points. Replace the balancer before anything else. Very common and well known deficiency of the 6.2. I have seen these fly apart and if yours is already wobbling it's just a...
