Sorry for the late reply.
It is one of the standard diesel units :-D - it seems to run fine though and does not appear to suffer from any lack of power, well not that I've noticed anyway.
Wow your restoration is certainly comprehensive! I like how it's all starting to look now. I don't mean...
I think the problem arises with multi-fuel when you are using a fuel that contains a large percentage of petrol or a similar substance, this lacks the lubrication needed by the injection pump to avoid damage to it's components, the other issue maybe the heat and burn characteristics of the fuel...
Sorry to hear that pal, the multi-fuel issue I think though you will find is the same for almost all engines, it is never intended to be used long term but just as a backup when regular fuel becomes unattainable in wartime conditions, even then it's not recommended that it be used for long...
Thanks Duncan.
I had already had a look at the hose and it seemed clean inside. The clutch gap I was able to set using a set of internal calipers - Mine defiantly needed the adjustment, the previous owner had backed it off so far the adjuster plate was lose and rattling about, I had something...
I forgot to mention I also adjusted the clutch on mine a while ago - I worked out that if you hold the clutch pedal down the adjuster is easier to turn, in fact I did it by using the end of a screwdriver and taping it around gently with a hammer
If only certain gears are hard to get...
Hi
I take it you mean older classic Urals from around the 1970's? If so they normally come in two basic forms; the petrol engined 375d (Zil V8 engine) or the diesel 4320 (Kamaz/Yamz V8 engines), I've seen both types up close here in the U.K. They're an equivalent size to your 5 tonners. A...
 Wow! Duncan you've been bussy. Any idea on when your new cab will arrive? Make sure you take lots of pics of it plz  - If you go to pick one up yourself could you get some of the 2 door cabs as well so I can see how they fit etc
Many thanks
Ooh tell me more about the overdrive plz
Re. Wheels - funny this should come up now, I was just thinking along the same lines as yourself, 21" tyres are almost imposable to get unless you go for the original type from the CZ-rep. I also have my eye on some 16.00 R20 tyres, ex-mod...
Methanol is the traditional substance used for air brakes
BTW thanks for the tip Duncan, only problem with getting a new one though is that they don't sell them over here as the weather very rarely gets cold enough to need one :-D Just thought new seals would be easier to fit.
Funny you should be talking about the anti-freeze injector as I've just noticed an air leak coming from inside it, are there seals available for it from anywhere?
Thanks for the info all, I've got another question though; how is the brake on the winch operated, I can't seem to get it to work, I can see any switch for it so I presume it actuates automatically somehow, perhaps when the clutch pedal is pressed?
Thanks
Thanks Duncan, that's very good info - I need to get new ones for mine soon as the ones on it ain't very good, the previous owner had been running the truck without a generator belt on:roll: the batteries only used to get charged with jump leads every so often, they must have spent most of their...
Yes, if you could that would be great, or if you could get the type number off them as they all come in standard sizes depending on their type i.e. type 622 = 509mm L x 216W x 207H
/ type 623 = 513 x 617 x 225 / type 624 = 518 x 276 x 240 etc etc

Remove engine covers first, you'll see the bolts then that secure the cab to the chassis rails, I think you need to undo the bolts around the front of the cab that secure it to the battery box and wheel arch?
Can anyone tell me what type of batteries best fit the battery trays of the Tatra, the two I have in there at the moment are 622 type I think but they are a little small (short) and need some wood under them to stop them falling through the frame of the holder, would 332's etc fit any better?
Sorry to quiz you on this Duncan, but I was just wondering how you could deduct the build date from this chassis number/Nr Des Fahrgestells as there's no dating suffix like there is in the other numbers on the truck, my truck I think is a 1970, I'm fairly confident about this as all the numbers...
Hi Freezer
That plate has the cab id # and its build date on it, if the cab build date matches the build date on the engine then you can be faily sure that the rest of the truck is also a 1986.
Diesel is reffered to by DVLA as 'heavy oil' - so same thing
You may be able to go for...
Hi Freezer
There's an easy way to tell if it's a multi-fuel variant; have a look at the VIN plate in the cab (bottom of drivers seat base), where it says engine/motor no. it should read something like; 930-3-10124-150,13C-78. The first three digits are the model of the engine, the next number...
Hey Freezer I see you are in the U.K. like me, is that Gosport on the south cost near Portsmouth? I'm up in North Wales. How's your truck coming along - Any pics of her?
Regards
