Another Tatra 813 joins the ranks

Thanks, I'm going to take it off soon anyway as I think it's only working on one pot, hopefully it's just stuck vales. Looking closer it doesn't seem to be fed with oil from the engine, so it must just be lubricated by what oil is held in the bottom of the case. Typical this assembly is part...

Has anyone serviced their air compressor yet? Just been looking at mine today and I can't seem to find anywhere on it to fill it with oil, however there does seem to be a drain plug on the bottom :? - Or is it just pumped with oil from the engine? Thanks

I haven't had any experience running a Tatra on it but I shouldn't think that they'd be any worse on it than any other diesel engine as long as you have the appropriate kit fitted (i.e. heater for the veg oil) Regards

Yea, it's basically the same 17L engine with some additional equipment included for running multi-fuel, however there are some minor differences in the engine itself, cylinder heads have different valve gear with valves that have a greater seating area, also looks as if the compression ratio...

I think the the 6x6 version you are referring to is the 'hauler' which is a little different to the 8x8 'kolos' - It has heaveier springing and is on 22.5" wheels fitted with heavy comercial type tyres, this rig is able to tow a massive 100 metric tons as apossed to the lesser 60 tons of the...

Yea, I was thinking of doing that, the back doors on my cab are a bit ratty anyway. :-D The only difficult bits I can see to are; mounting the heater in a suitable place that doesn't make getting the rear engine cover off difficult - actually the rear engine cover would need to be modified...

Thats the only thing I can fault the 813 on; the overhang at the front, I notice on a lot of the trails trucks they modify the front end and bumper - I guess they also don't want the batteries getting smashed. Hopefully getting an original body for mine soon, it's actually the one that came...

Hi Dean Sorry but I have already offered first shout on the blade to the guy who's just bought the truck that the blade originally came off, If he's no longer interested in it by the time I'm finished with it then I'll keep you in mind - I'll also keep you posted if I hear of any more for sale...

Yep, if you lift the grill up on that side and look underneath near to the dash you will see there are another two holes and two bolt holes for holding the lever linkage - only one lever operates the blade though and the other is a spare for additional equipment, the wafer to which this lever is...

Sorry, there are no others for sale I know of at the moment. Yes you would need the pump to go with it, you also need the spool valve block and the rear mounts for the blade which attach to the large casting at the end of the tubular chassis, there are two of them with six bolts each to the...

He-he, that's just what my mother used to say :-D More pics of it for you to drool over here: Russian Military Trucks Gallery :: John's Tatra 813 Kolos It's a little bit scabby but with a sandblast and re-paint it should look tidy, will need a hydraulic pipe or two but it should then just...

Thanks for the offer  , but I think I will probably pick one up at the same time I get a new cab, not likely to be for a while though I imagine, hope they have plenty of them left by the time I get there - Be good to know how much they are asking for one though? Regards

Well at first I thought the dash stayed in place but when I looked a bit closer it's actually attached to the cab not the structure that comes through the floor, it's also designed to be disconnected easily as all the wires connect to it via two large screw in multi-plugs - So this is why I was...

Yes but I like to know exactly what everything does on my truck  - No point having all these nice little switches, nob's, levers, lights etc if you don't know what they do  - Anyway I'm mostly making observations for other peoples benefit So exactly how much do ATH want for a...

Ah yes, you did say 'far left' - boy do I feel like a tool  Not got a switch like that either, is it a PAL made switch? If not most likely as you say someones been doing their own bit of wiring, I did notice though all those Tatras from Manby seem to be painted yellow under the...

You mean this switch? - I'm not sure what this one does either, looking from underneath the back of the switch is enomouse, about the size of a small starter motor! Can't imagine what it's for though - Mind you, I've not tried it yet

Worked out today how to tension the generator belt :-D The bracket for the genny doesn't move but the generator is mounted in it with an eccentric band around its body - so with the bracket slackened you can rotate the body of the generator moving its pulley closer or further away from the...
