I replaced the HH since it was doing the same thing, that is it needed statring fluid to fire up and a few squirts to maintain an idle, then after a couple minutes it would run on its own. After searching the forums and chatting with others here, the concensus was the HH was going bad and could...
Here's what I've done so far:
1. changed all filters as well as put in fresh oil and fuel
2. changed HH based on recomendations from others on this site
3. engine runs and idles after I give it starting fluid for a few minutes( 5 was an over estimate...)
4. HH replaced in time with red/scribed...
All, please forgive if this has been answered but I'm loosing my mind.
I have a 1967 M109, just finished the bob and spent a week fabbing the rear suspension and bed hardware and my issue is it will not start or stay running for the first 5 min without starting fluid sprayed into the intake...
I'm headed from Ft Leavenworth KS (near KC MO) to 29 Palms CA on the 23 May to arrive on the 25th in a 24ft box truck. Anyone need something transported? send me a PM
Thanks guys! I've seen some posts that say these are not servicible, and one very good one that details the pictures of a successfull attempt. I figure I have nothing to loose by fooling around with it for a day before I spend any more money on this thing.
1. Truck was not running when I purchased, no batteries
2. I have fuel out of the secondary filter bleeder and the HH center plug
3. Truck was not running prior to HH removal to verify button attachment and plunger movement
4. Only initially starts with 4 clicks pulled on the hand throttle and...
First off I'd like to thank all who have helped me so far through replies to mine and other threads.
Here is my scenario:
I have a 67 M109 with the Continental muntifuel with the FDC bypassed. I have changed out the fuel filters(all 3), the oil and filters, and I can only get the truck to...
Thanks everyone. I picked up a mech gauge and had 25psi at idle...changed the oil and filters and I'm in the 50-75psi range between 1000 and 2000 rpm. Next problem is finding out why it won't start w/o a shot of ether(I'm mixing w/ WD40 after reading some other posts).
Can you point me to the location of the sending unit? I want to be sure I pull the correct fitting. I have a aftermarket gauge laying around I can plumb in.
I purchased a 1967 M109 this weekend with a Continental multi-fuel with 172 hours on the meter overhauled back in 1990. After 2 days of wrenching and head-scratching and searching threads I got it running. The motor sounds good, but the oil pressure gauge does not come off the low peg. I...
Got mine running this afternoon...found the shut-down mechanism was stuck upon re-assembly. Worked on it for 2 days but now have a better understanding of how this beast works. Thanks to all who posted HH threads, especially those with pictures!!! Now on to phase 2, oil and filter changes
Hey guys, I'm in the same boat but apparently a different creek...All the same symptoms as above, removed the HH only to find everything attached as I think it should be. no extra parts left in the housing. Does this mean the HH is toast? if so what does one cost? Where can I find one? I just...
Glen,
I was pointed your direction by a couple other members. I just bought an M109 without the box on it to make a bobber. I'm looking fo an M105 trailer for the conversion. do you have any pics of the ones you have?
Thanks!
