running poorly, lack of power, black smoke, at higher rpm. sluggish

I started having what I thought was a fuel supply problem and started checking everything. I knew I was due for an oil change and I had noticed a small leak from the hole in the bell housing, so I checked the oil while I was at it. I was stupid for not checking it sooner.

running poorly, lack of power, black smoke, at higher rpm. sluggish

Any update would be greatly appreciated as I am having a near identical problem. I was 4 qts low on oil (yeah, i know..) and topping it off seemed to fix the lack of power and surging problem I was having.

    starter stuck on

The switch has always been fairly loose, but it happened with no real warning. By loose I mean that there isn't much resistance or change in feel between the different positions (Acc, off, on, start). The first time it happened all the lights on my dash stayed on and the starter stayed engaged...

    starter stuck on

I did the doghead starter relay mod, but about 6 months later, the starter stuck again. Turns out my ignition wasn't popping back out of "start" once I let go of the key. It took me a couple of starts before I realized what was happening.

Think my Injector Pump is shot

Any updates on this? I am now having a very similar problem. My CUCV doesn't stall, but has NO power uphill and randomly while driving.

    North Carolina Title Issues

Here is a quick update... I have been talking to GL and they said they have never been asked to fill out this form in NC. The management there is discussing what to do. I told them that it was a pretty benign form and that they should just fill it out for me. CGarbee, how can I get in touch...

    North Carolina Title Issues

That is a thought too, but hopefully I won't have to resort to it. They have several locations here in NC so I could probably use this tactic. Thanks for the idea!

    North Carolina Title Issues

haha, you're right! I would rather have a salvage title than no title though!

    North Carolina Title Issues

I agree and wonder if that is the gist of it, but it doesn't matter. It is required, plus I think they are covered by the statement at the top of the form. "STATE LAW REQUIRES THAT EVERY SELLER DISCLOSE TO THE BUYER IF HE KNOWS OR REASONABLY SHOULD KNOW, THE INFORMATION LISTED BELOW." I...

    Cargo cover stuff?

PM me in a week. I am trying to decide if I want to sell mine and I don't live too far from you. I go to Raleigh every couple of months so I could bring them with me.

    I have a spool!? (M1008)

No he didn't say. I will ask him next week.

    North Carolina Title Issues

So far the process with GL HAD been flawless....until today. I did not have to fill out a EUC and I got my SF97 very quickly. Now for the fun part. North Carolina requires form MVR-181 Damage Disclosure to be turned in with the title application. The seller MUST fill out and sign the form...

    I have a spool!? (M1008)

Because of my work schedule I have been unable to work on the truck so I took it to a friend's shop nearby to get the fluids changed (tranny, xfer case, diffs, etc.). He told me that I have a spool in the rear end instead of a locker. I asked him if he was sure and he said yes. I had been...

Just a few reasons it's good to own a CUCV...

When I go to tractor supply, the yard guys fight over who gets to load my fence posts instead of hiding when they hear a yard order... Oh, and on the last trip a guy in the parking lot helped me load my fence wire and strap it down just so we could chat about the truck...

    Oops...stuck in the mud.

I've done that before with these tires in sand on my K5 and you are right. They acted like a different tire. Tonight I was just way too buried. I had a buddy with a dodge that had lockers and he couldn't get it out. He brought a compact tractor and it couldn't get it out. It finally took an...

Maybe it held the flux capacitor in?

    Oops...stuck in the mud.

Will do. I thought of that last night but was hoping the furd could yank it out. I did not know that. I've had the BFG ATs on other trucks, but never went in mud. Lesson learned! My thoughts exactly! I mentioned the winch to the wife and she didn't bat an eye. I mentioned big tires, a...

    Oops...stuck in the mud.

I just had the front hubs apart because I needed new rotors. I guess I will need to take it apart again just in case. As for the diffs, I have the gaskets and oil and had planned on changing the oil out soon so now is as good a time as ever.

    Oops...stuck in the mud.

It just had BF Goodrich AT's put on it Monday. They have less than 50 miles on them, but I probably put another 50 on trying to get it out... The ruts from yesterday filled up with water overnight too. We are expecting 3 inches of rain Saturday so I need to get it out tomorrow!
