What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Question-did you bolt directly to the body or did you find the underbody mount/support for the fording stack? I've been wanting to install the fording stack, but have been reluctant to do so without the support, which I haven't been able to find.

Upgrading HMMWV With More Civilian Components

I think it does affect the resale value - and not necessarily for the better. Anything you do to it today, I would suggest that you make it easily converted back to original. I liken these to the GPW's and MB's available after WW2. They were plentiful then and not nearly so plentiful now. Those...

    Negligent Discharge or Creative Ventilation

Ok, let's stop acting like children and get back to the point at hand. I also think it is extremely unlikely that someone fired multiple rounds through the floorboard of the vehicle, but if you feel it gives you a cool story, then go for it. You'll likely get a lot of chocked eyebrows though...

    Demand for HMMWVs

Agreed. I think the novelty for many agencies have worn off. They get them for "emergencies" and then sit stagnant 98pct of them time. ****, I've got a sheriff's agency near me that has 12 of them for "emergencies" and most wouldn't start on demand if needed given how long they've sat unused.

    lighting issues

I would have to agree with Gordon. Now is also a good time to install a ground harness as well. If you don't, you will likely have ground issues again. I see your in Dacula - you're not terribly far from me (Athens area).

Mounted 50 cal AMMO CAN STORAGE TRAYS on HMMWV?

While it doesn't show the trays up on the fenders - that's what mine looks like.

Mounted 50 cal AMMO CAN STORAGE TRAYS on HMMWV?

Crap - This slipped my mind! I'm traveling on business at the moment. I'll get them when I get home. Sorry about that......

Hummer Transfer case 218 swapping with 242 Model

Take a look at the Operators Manual. Per page 2-108 of the Operators Manual (section 2-11): "Vehicle must be stopped, engine off and transmission shift lever placed in "N" (neutral) before transfer case can be shifted. Failure to do this will result in damage to drivetrain."

Mounted 50 cal AMMO CAN STORAGE TRAYS on HMMWV?

I agree with you on that. They were generally useless as we always carried way more ammo, water and fuel than there were trays to put it all in. I get the purpose of the slantback, but the accommodations for loadouts that were planned for the vehicles never jived with reality, even in the...

Mounted 50 cal AMMO CAN STORAGE TRAYS on HMMWV?

The locations are in Appendix F7 of the Operators Manual, but if someone doesn't get you pics by tomorrow I'll try to get some of mine for you.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

If I wasn't traveling this past week, I would have taken advantage of the weather to paint mine too. I'll probably just wait til springtime to do mine. ......

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

I don't mean for this to be an "I told ya so", but more to help others who are also going down this road to new HMMWV ownership. It's easy to get excited with a new toy and immediately want to take it for a spin to "try her out" when in reality, this isn't the best course of action. There's no...

    hmmwv 6.2 7 cylinder

I completely agree with the above statement. It's the risk you take with something listed as a "non-runner" and you're expecting an awful lot from a business with essentially a monopoly on military vehicle auctions. IP/GP isn't the used car lot down the road that is competing with 50 other use...

    Readers HMMWV Rides

That's a good idea. I think it would be better to start a thread for exactly that so that this thread can be kept clean with pictures or comments about the pictures.

    Readers HMMWV Rides

I'd love a set of supplemental armor doors so that I can do it like the truck I had in the Marines. Beggars can't be choosers though and I'm quite happy with the X-doors I have.

Very much a replica, the only .50 I have is from McMillan.

    M998 Hard door options

I've priced out the other options for doors for my truck and found that regardless of if they're military doors, H1 doors or the Cal-Gold does - they're ALL expensive. I ended up biting the bullet and just bought a set of military X doors.
