Which states are not HMMWV friendly?

Illinois is not friendly, despite the fact that the State issued Military Vehicle license plates a few years back. Got mine tagged in Utah.

Interesting Response from Vermont DECLINING my HMMWV Registration

Aye, all pertinent info regarding the vehicle is addressed to my Illinois address. They send mailers bi-annually asking you to verify insurance coverage. Re-registering was around $75 and I went online and gave them CC info, got a tag in the mail a few weeks later. It wasn’t cheap at first...

Interesting Response from Vermont DECLINING my HMMWV Registration

I used them as HMMWVs are verboten in Illinois. Got a title and plate from Utah for about $700+ tax. Not cheap, but I didn’t want to mess about with trying another state and then the possible headache of washing an “Off-road vehicle” title. It was a quick and easy process.

M1123 did not shift in last gear

Unless someone retrofitted a 700r4, you have the 4L80E in the M1123.

Has anyone attempted to make their own hard doors?

@Eslurf might be of more help, those are his videos. I have a set of Arctic doors and am kicking around the idea of hard doors if for no other reason than to have functional windows.

    Hmmwv reliability

In my opinion, they get a bad reputation in service because they're generally maintained by relatively inexperienced mechanics and driven like hell by inexperienced drivers who aren't paying the repair costs- think rental car. When they hit the secondary market, they're a crapshoot. Now you...

    Two silly oil change questions...

Thank you! I figured a yearly interval with about 1,000 miles would be reasonably safe, but wanted to make sure I wasn't doing anything reckless.

    Two silly oil change questions...

Diesel newbie question - do I need to be following a oil change interval in the TM (semi-annually) even if the truck has seen relatively little use? I changed my oil/filter about 400mi ago, but it has been about 3 months now. Is this something I should worry about, or am I good if I stick to...

Why Blue Hummer Spindle Nuts? Hummer H1’s video answer!

I wasn't the only one confused by your post, I spent time out of my day to try to help another member understand what I thought you meant. I didn't correct you, I didn't say you were wrong, I tried to explain what I thought you meant. If that offended you, I'm sorry. When you get bent out of...

Why Blue Hummer Spindle Nuts? Hummer H1’s video answer!

I think the confusion here is that RWH is talking about the videos - where the nut is installed backwards. Due to the timing of his post, it seemed (to me at least) like he was talking about @lpcoating's picture, which has them installed correctly per the TM and the Howitzer cartoon.

Why Blue Hummer Spindle Nuts? Hummer H1’s video answer!

That was my thought as well, Commo, but I have literally zero experience here. I like the idea of the Blue Hummer's lock ring setup, but $600 is a healthy chunk of change for some hardware. That said, I'll go that route for my next hub service.

    Humvee floor mats

It definitely did something, but the NA 6.5 is a LOUD girl, especially when it’s clanging around 2-3 feet from my head. I would guess that floor mats would help a decent amount with road noise, but as far as engine noise, covering the tunnel did very little. I have two small kids (4 & 7yo)...

    Humvee floor mats

I did my center tunnel and bed with the 3/4” 4’x8’ mats (it took 2), it did help with the noise, although not much. I can tell you that working with those mats is a lot of work. I cut some fairly intricate angles around the doghouse and bed tiedowns, etc. but I would expect a bit of a task to...

    Spring replacement, leveling springs

If it’s anything like my M1123, it’s likely due to the additional 500lbs of black undercoating that covers EVERYTHING underneath. Seriously though, I’m interested in hearing why as well.

Has anyone attempted to make their own hard doors?

I've kicked around the idea of making simple half doors out of plywood, maybe that'll be a "fun" winter project this year. I would love some hard doors, but can't stomach 1/3rd the price of the truck for some sheets of aluminum/fiberglass.
