So you want to go faster?

My question would be: with anything over stock 9.00's, you'd probably have to take off in low range to get rolling without riding the clutch wouldn't you? That's a significant difference in ratio......

Added coolant filter and flushed radiator today'

Most heavy trucks and large diesel engines use coolant system filters for the reason that Jake mentioned. They are designed to run and last far longer than standard automotive systems. That and the capacities are so much larger that contamination is more of an issue due to more surface area in...

Is a deuce for me? I far from a mechanic...

I'd first find someone local and have a drive and look over of their deuce. Some things to keep in mind: Just 'cause its huge don't mean its safe. No padded dash, no collapsible steering column, no airbags, and no top. At least not a structural top anyway. Maintenance can be pricey. More so...

    Towing question with M35.....

Just keep in mind that you need to STOP that boat as well........

    Shipping parts to other countries

When you list anything MV related on Egay, just set the auction for US sales only. I've pretty much done that with everything I sell there anymore, MV or not, just to avoid any potential shipping, customs and duty hassles. Oh and if you want to, you can also cancel the bid from the...

    My First REAL Deuce Problem.

Drop the belts one at a time and see if the noise disappears.......

Where did you mount the license plates

I just mounted the rear plate on the left mudflap mount, then added a light over top of it. Remember to leave room for a light. The front, I just drilled and tapped two holes on the left side of the bumper. I figure 6 extra 1/4" holes wouldn't do any harm.

    5 TON Hater ........

About 15 years ago a good friend of mine lived in a neighborhood where one of the busybodies complained about his shop and vehicles all the time. The shop was clean and the vehicles tagged and well-maintained. This crappy neighbor was relentless in his complaints over the most trivial...

    radiator needs new shoes

I beleive that they also sell those through the HELP! parts line, which most NAPA's and the like carry, so long as you can get the guy behind the counter to actually look for them.

    King of the rattle can

Here is my M715 in Krylon "Olive" It has held up well for nearly 2 years now, and touch up is as easy as a quick spray. The only issue I have noticed is that it isn't nearly as scratch resistant as Enamel applied with a gun. That and it takes a LOT of cans to cover well. I did prep the body...

    Truck pictures

That sounds like a good idea. I generally just hit Google Images and plug in what I'm looking for. You'll almost always get a ton of hits on about any MV.

Repaired front axle leak Im tired.

Definitely do the one-piece boots. You'll thank yourself later when you crawl underneath and they are still there and still clamped into place. Even after a long off-road session. When installing them be sure the surface is good and dry and clean where they clamp, and that you use new...

    Medium towbar pin question

Thanks again for the replies! I appreciate the real-time experience. Not just a friend of a friends, cousins', sister's, boyfriend's, opinion......:-D So it seems that those pins do move around enough to cause that little diaper pin to shear. I wouldn't have thought so, but under those kinds...

    Medium towbar pin question

Since all the load technically should be on the 1" pin itself, and under load the pins shouldn't move, would it really matter about the little "diaper" pin? I mean all it does is keep the 1" pins from falling out, right? Unless the towbar pin were installed upside down there shouldn't be much...

    Medium towbar pin question

Kinda what I figured. Just standard towing. Probably will be towing the 715 short distances with the Deuce. Of course, who knows what might follow me home next? :-D

    Medium towbar pin question

Thanks for all the replies! I DO plan on getting the correct pins, but if I need the towbar before then, I'd like to at least be able to recover something or get it off the side of the road in a pinch. I firmly believe that the right tool for the job is critical.

    Medium towbar pin question

Since pins (and other stuff) for the medium towbars are getting a bit tricky to find, I was wondering if the 1" pins found at the local Tractor Supply would be safe to use? These are longer than the originals, but look to be hardened and if they will pull a large implement, they seem like...

how to keep people from joyriding / messing with a deuce?

Just remember, you're only locking it up from the honest thief. If someone wants it badly enough, they will get it. Still, I wouldn't make it too easy for them. All the above and other ideas on this forum are good deterrents to theft of your MV.

Hearing Protection - An often overlooked safety concern

Yep, keep them ears protected. Mine ring constantly now and I definitely can't hear certain things (not selectively all the time) when other sounds around are at just the right frequency. Never thought about earplugs 20 years ago, and now it shows.

Call me crazy, I want it louder

After years of unmuffled motorcycles, equipment and vehicles, I too have lost a significant portion of my hearing. It may not seem to be that big of a deal now, but you will regret it later. And as for all the people around you, those are the ones who may not appreicate the racket. A...
