Plowboy, USMC awesome quick research!
Love this site for everyone on here willing to lend a quick hand or throw info a guys way when they get lost!
Plowboy i believe i gave you that exact yoke you are indicating with your pen.
However that is not what i am looking for. I went under the old rig...
Off hand does anyone know the ujoint size used in the interm/propeller shaft?
I am trying to locate a yoke with flange face that will bolt to the tranny instead of bolting directly to the propeller shaft.
A further edit to previously.
The tranny flange the looks like it will hopefully direct bolt to the propeller shaft doesnt have two sets of bolt holes.
The outer ring of bolt holes is for the brake drum.
Looks like i will have two park brakes!
Will i remember to release them both once i hit...
Yes i wrote that my 5 speed spicer will apparently bolt right to the interm/ propeller shaft that goes between tranny and transfer case on the G749 series trucks!
I am still kinda in disbelief about it and am waiting for the tranny to drop on my foot.
From all my measurements it seems as though...
Ok! I am still alive and at it.
It as been a crazy busy year.
I finally got a morning to myself to putz around in my shop.
It was time to start removing the old starter, clutch and backing plate from the cummins.
To say everything came apart easily would be the biggest lie!
Every bolt fought me...
What is your set back for your single axle? It sure isnt just dissected from the tandems. Looks like it is set back about a foot from where the front rear axle would be? Or rather you located it directly in the middle of where the tandams would be.
Bendix Truflow 500 is a good one and will also mount to the cummins 5.9L
Wabsco (think that is how it is spelt) is the one used by cummins.
I believe both models have options for having the power steering pump piggy backed.
This is a good option to have if you are looking to do a powersteering...
No apologies necessary gentrysgarage.
I completely understand how hectic and busy a person can get.
I like the upside down pics. Are those g177 tires?
your frame looks nice and clean. Great job stripping it down!
I have also planned out things on my build to death. My wife tells me the reason I...
Here is question for you gentrysgarage.
How big is the centre hole on the B700? brake rotors you plan to use for your upgrade?
The ones I sourced for an older ford f750 had centre holes that were just small enough as to interfere with mounting on the spindle.
Rather I believe someone else did...
Gentrysgarage, awesome research and parts collecting/sourcing.
Your project sounds cool! Pretty close to my own aside from the pesky laws you have to abide by.
I have a cummins 12v with the old VE pump(modified), old spicer 5 speed, single mass clutch with SAE#2 bellhousing, 2 inch hydro max...
Been searching most of the night and it seems a custom built rad is in order.
Biggest reasoning is due to the cummins repower I am doing.
I believe diesel engines tend to run a little hotter and would like to make sure to keep it nice and cool.
Someone correct me if I am wrong.
Thank you Topo! That's awesome!
Your radiator still looks good. No fan rubbing in the fins or huge noticeable gaps.
Did you take it out of a runner? Pressure test it?
I am now off to search the interweb for a comparison aftermarket rad. If I find a good one I will post up so that it can be put...
Duuane that would be awesome if you could measure yours up and post. I am sure I am not the only one who would like to know.
I am sure others of us are going to need to replace their radiators sooner or later due to age.
If your radiator is not actually out of its housing then don't go to to...
Well I have searched and searched , yet can't find an answer to my question.
I am looking for the dimensions for the radiator so that I can find a replacement.
My rig did not have one when I purchased it, due to salvaging the copper.
I scavenged a couple radiators to hopefully use but both...
Rainbow man!
I would love to know how you over came the linkage to the transfer case to select forward and reverse gearing?
I have read in the forums here that these particular transfer cases require a shift either forward or back to be able to run in said directions.
Thank you for the crossed fingers and prayers everyone!
It must have worked!
The fire have moved off from near my ranch and the community of Little Fort. The only thing that happened my way, Was the spot fire that somehow started behind the steel barn.
The unfortunate thing is that many have...
Cough, cough, cough!
Still alive and kicking.
Quick run down....
Fires started July 7th at around 4pm after a brief intense lightning storm.
(Hopefully my pictures will load)
My family and I started getting ready for the evacuations right away since we knew there wouldn't be much in the way...
Well what a bummer! !
Finally got out to the barn with my various new to me parts.
Turns out that the clutch and flywheel are the wrong size!
Huge inward groan!
My fault for not properly measuring things up before handing over cash.
The sae #2 bellhousing appears to be correct at least. Although...
Looks like Gringeltaube is right.
Canadian armed forces LAV lll.
Now the big question! Will they work on a deuce?
Peashooter's adaptors are for a ten bolt hub not an I bolt.
Think I read that the center hole is 8 and 7/8 inches.
Of course the deuce bolt is 8 3/4. Pretty tight fit.
