    Mystery Transmission Fluid Leak?

So two months ago I was under my '84 M1028 to remove my starter and have it rebuilt......underside of transmission pan, transfer case, and adapter were all dry, had probably put ~1000 miles on the truck through last deer season with no leaks of transmission fluid whatsoever from anywhere. This...

Where to get a new starter?

Thanks Rick, I used a 3/8 ratchet to remove the starter bolts, and was surprised that it didn't take much effort to get them out. Use of a washer is a good idea when using the new bolts.

Where to get a new starter?

Removed my starter this past weekend, will have it rebuilt.......honestly think my issue with random non-starts/clicks was due to loose connection on wire to left post on solenoid, positive cable to solenoid was firmly attached......but will have starter rebuilt since I already have it removed...

    CUCV Starting issues

Any recommendations for sourcing a new gear reduction starter? Or should I just start with replacing solenoid only? Presume solenoid part # is same whether its DD or gear reduction starter? Pic of current starter posted below, noting mine does not have support bracket. I've read a bit on...

    CUCV Starting issues

So I had this same issue this past weekend - I turned the key, and all I got was a click - but then unlike previous instances, turned the key to off, and turned key again but all I got was clicks for 3 more tries.......not good when 8 miles from camp. Thankfully my brother had a wrench handy...

    Opinions on M1009 Tires

Put those on my M1028 this past fall, 285/75/16 on a 16X10 steel rim, and they did very well in the mud.

Changing the rear springs on my M1031

I updated my M1028 with ORD greaseable bushings for front and rear springs, and upgraded rear shackles for the front springs and rear springs, but left the OEM springs in place......truck rides very well for a one ton.

Should I have been draining water from my new SPIN-ON?

Agreed, I would like a primer plunger as well when I upgrade my filter configuration.

    Idle Vibration Normal?

I replaced my motor mounts with ORD competition motor mounts, and also replaced harmonic balancer, transmission cross-member and adapter between transmission and transfer case......truck still has all kinds of rattles and buzzes/vibrations......what I have noticed though is that depending on...

    CUCV Starting issues

I've been having same issue on my '84 M1028.......maybe once every 50 starts I'll turn the key to start the truck and all I get is click/clunk and then nothing, like a dead battery. I turn the key to off, then turn the key again to start the truck and it fires right up...... I have the starter...

    M1009 Door Adjustment

When you guys that have replaced door hinge pins/bushings......I have pulled old pins and original brass bushings, which were not in that bad of shape, but door did have a little wiggle room up and down. Are there only the two brass bushings to replace for each hinge? When I replace the...

Leaking Transfer Case - Best Kits for Repair

So I had the TH400/NP208 Adapter replaced today on my '84 M1028.....see pics below.....no big surprise that Dexron III would be leaking through that large a crack! Per my transmission shop, there simply is an O-ring between the adapter and the TH400, and then a gasket between the adapter and...
