    Hydraulic Head Leak

Ok, so I've taken the old girl for a couple of trips, got her thoroughly warmed up, and some highway speeds. Can't believe how good she's running. I have noticed one small thing. When cruising along part throttle at say 35 mph, when I push the clutch in and release the throttle, she'll almost...

    Fuel leak at Hyd .head

I will offer my $.02. I apologize if this sounds condescending, don't mean it that way. The round piece with the fuel lines coming out the top is the Hydraulic Head. It is held onto the Fuel Injection pump with four nuts, one of which is right next to your red arrow. The joint between the...

    Hydraulic Head Leak

Update: Got my new injector nozzle and fuel lines, but first things first. Decided to pull the valve cover, and make sure we were all lined up on the compression stroke. All good there. Replaced the #3 injector, got all the lines installed. After torquing the injector end, cracked them back...

    Hydraulic Head Leak

Update on my leaky Hydraulic Head. After swapping the head yesterday, I did a close inspection of the head that I removed. I see no cracks, or other potential causes of the leaky #3 port. Of course, I suppose the crack could be small enough to be invisible. After reviewing a few old posts...

    Hydraulic Head Install Issue

Thanks Gimpy. I read a previous post, I believe from Doghead, that the IP mark in the window would be "to the left" of the pointer, but wasn't sure what that meant. I guess looking from the front of the truck, it would be to the left of the pointer. You guys are the greatest. Maybe my pic will...

    Hydraulic Head Install Issue

Thanks. I'm hoping so. I need to replace a couple of lines, one twisted off, the other one's nut was seized up pretty tight, and the flats were rounded from the previous install, I'm guessing. had to cut the lines, and use a socket. Then we'll fire her up (hopefully) and see what happens.

    Hydraulic Head Install Issue

Put another way, with the LDT mark lined up with the pointer, the cutout is out of position enough to prevent the HH from sliding in.

    Hydraulic Head Install Issue

Actually, none of the marks on the balancer line up with the pointer. They are about the same amount away from the pointer that the IP timing mark is, with the cutout in the position shown. The IP mark is about 1.25 " past the pointer.

    Exhaust j-pipe installation problem

I put a new one in my Deuce last winter, it too was a little too long. Lots of cussing, finally got it in, wrecked my arm and pinched the crap out of my finger, and the pipe is right up against the outer edge of the cutout in the fender. I don't suppose it's easy making a pipe when you don't...

    Hydraulic Head Install Issue

OK, I finally found time to replace the leaky Hydraulic Head. I lined up the red tooth with the pointer in the fuel control rod window. Then tried to get the head off. After a little prying, it came off. Looking closely at the metal stamping on top of the drive gear, I see that it's bent up...

    Source for tire chains

I'm still waiting to pull the trigger on chains, but I've settled on Tire Chains by TireChains.com. Two pair of 5/16 truck dual staggered cross-links. (Drool). And a pair for the front. I need to call them to verify fit, and adjusters...but they seem like a good option.

    Hydraulic Head Leak

My understanding is that there are three O-rings. If that's correct, would they be the upper and lower that seal the HH to the IP housing, and the third being on the fuel shutoff rod where it enters into the housing under the HH? Thanks.

    Hydraulic Head Leak

Ahh, boy. Well, one of the procedures that I've read up on the most is the hydraulic head replacement, with the plunger button, clip etc. This will be a great opportunity to bond some more with my "girl". Thanks y'all for the help.

    Hydraulic Head Leak

Seems like a new leak has developed. The PO of my Deuce (a SS member, so I'll reserve my opinion) tried a little "sealer" on the hydraulic head, I'm not sure why. I replaced #3 fuel line, as its fitting was leaking. All was dry until just recently. Now, it appears that I'm getting quite a bit (a...

Earning her keep - Queen Lola brings some gravel home

Man, I hear ya. A few weeks ago, I "had" to go pick up 4 yards of mulch (the guys at the landscape supply were drooling over my rig, or maybe laughing, it was hard to tell), then the following Saturday I "had" to go get 4 yards of topsoil for some lawn improvement and garden work. The 4 yards of...
