Transmission Light On When Engine Off

Yep, I need to get around to doing that... probably not a bad way to keep it from getting stolen either if its a bit hidden.

Transmission Light On When Engine Off

As the title says, my transmission light is on only when the key is in and engine not running. I just hooked it up finally so I don't really know if this is normal or not. Once I start the engine it immediately goes off. Tranny seems to run smooth but every once in a while it doesn't want to go...

Power Steering Pump Whines When Off Roading- Normal?

Hey all, Just wanted to run this by you guys. When heavy off roading such as going over rocks or break torqueing to "lock" the diffs I get a good bit of power steering whine. Never really hear this when I am just driving around town though. Is this typical or should I be worried? Verified...

Humvee Fan Fighting with Thermostat? (almost always on but temps are good)

FYI, stuck a new gauge in her and temps seems to read relatively normal now. Runs about 210 - 220 which I think is what it was reading when I started this whole thread and before I replaced a bunch of parts because I thought that was too high *sigh*. As Retiredwarhorses mentioned A2 trucks...

    Smart Start Box Ground Cable

Hey guys, I was wiring up some lights last night and I disconnected the ground to the smart start box behind the Guages to wire my lights to it. Seems like its acting up sometimes now... Any chance I friend my $900 box by not unplugging the batteries first? I know you are supposed to...

    Bleeding Coolant in 6.5

Sorry if its been covered already. I just put in a new sending unit and Paradox by Design cooling lines. In the past the only thing I have ever done to purge air from the system is run the truck with no cap on the overflow tank.... not really sure if this does much. I have read on other...

Humvee Fan Fighting with Thermostat? (almost always on but temps are good)

Interesting, well if that is the case then the fan is coming on pretty much right on the money. And with your A2s do you ever see any cool down on the Guage by the time the fan shuts back off or is it miniscule? I do have a good bit of experience with diesels, even 6.5s in Civilian stuff, but...

Humvee Fan Fighting with Thermostat? (almost always on but temps are good)

Fair enough, just don't understand why people say theirs runs at 200, fan kicks on at 210, then cools it down to 185 while mine runs at 221-223, fan kicks in, no difference on the gauge ever. Something just doesn't add up to me.

Humvee Fan Fighting with Thermostat? (almost always on but temps are good)

Does your Guage usually move after the fan kicks on or is there little reaction? I get maybe 2 degrees if that but the fan cycles off which tells me it's more like 15-20 degrees over the course of a full cycle.

Humvee Fan Fighting with Thermostat? (almost always on but temps are good)

Another update- went ahead and put a new sending unit in it. Little to no change, actually reports a tad bit hotter now around 222/223.... Other than warming up the Guage is basically a statue. It stays at that temp the entire trip and does not move a milimeter. I also installed the Paradox by...

Humvee Fan Fighting with Thermostat? (almost always on but temps are good)

To me someone linking a TM is kinda like a group of rocket scientists planning the proper velocity and trajectory for re-entering the earth's atmosphere and then someone chimes in with a link to a 4th grade math book that introduces you to the intricacies of adding negative numbers and...

Humvee Fan Fighting with Thermostat? (almost always on but temps are good)

*Update* went ahead and replaced the fan controller as well as the thermostat. Both very easy jobs but its a bummer to get coolant everywhere lol. Gauge is actually reading a bit hotter now, maybe 215-221 but it never really moves much other than when the Humvee is warming up. The good news is...

Humvee Fan Fighting with Thermostat? (almost always on but temps are good)

I was gonna say lmao... but in all seriousness its helpful if you have little to no knowledge about an engine. Some of it was still enlightening to me even though I've been working on this stuff for a long time.

Humvee Fan Fighting with Thermostat? (almost always on but temps are good)

Every time I have hit anything with the temp gun it is 200 degrees or less. Now that's not to say things don't heat up when I am driving to about 210-220 and then cool down quickly when I stop before I can pop the hood open and check but I think my temp gauge probably does ready 5-10 degrees...

Humvee Fan Fighting with Thermostat? (almost always on but temps are good)

Thanks everyone for the replies- also update. New Radiator cap and thermostat came in today. Going to start with the cap and see if that does anything, then I will probably do the time delay module once it comes in, then the fan switch, then the thermostat, and lastly probably the belts. I am...

Humvee Fan Fighting with Thermostat? (almost always on but temps are good)

That is a good point on the belts, never even thought to check that. It is definitely loud in every gear besides overdrive. Overdrive it is audible but barely. Is that the case for you as well or does your Humvee not have overdrive?

Humvee Fan Fighting with Thermostat? (almost always on but temps are good)

I am gonna go ahead with the new thermostat as well, considering the constant running happens even in mild temps is concerning let alone 95 degrees,

Humvee Fan Fighting with Thermostat? (almost always on but temps are good)

I am definitely not going to flush it, but fan running 24/7 doesn't seem normal to me. Just the fact its killing my fuel mileage alone makes me want to look into it let alone the power suck.

Humvee Fan Fighting with Thermostat? (almost always on but temps are good)

I have no idea what you mean by this statement.

Humvee Fan Fighting with Thermostat? (almost always on but temps are good)

Interesting... I cannot tell for sure but I don't think mine ever even shuts off when I am rolling at higher speeds. It might be though because there is so much other noise and unless I am not in overdrive its a bit hard to hear the fan over everything else. Also seems like once it has had to...
