    Wiper switch

Well, pulling a column is not as easy as it looks. The ignition switch and the PRNDL switch are a pain and so is the hi beam lo beam switch. You would have to do alot of what you are doing and then there is the ignition lock. In all honesty, the first time I ever got into a GM column I swore...

    Wiper switch

The part number is the correct one based on the AC DELCO OEM Part Number. I double checked wtih Advance just now on the phone. Disconnect the batteries first. There are always on power feeds in the column and you do not want to short them out when you are working on this. Remove the...

    Classified Ads???

All I did is point out the nature of the game. I did not take any cheap shots at anyone in the forum. I object to the way that they chose to implement the new regime in such a thoughtless and abrupt manner. The money is secondary. I value consideration and respect more than a lot of other...

    Exterior Latex/Acrylic House Paints

I have used both Siphon feed automotive and also HVLP spray guns and prefer the HVLP. The ten percent is essential to let the paint smooth out before it dries and it is thin enough to dry pretty quick. Now being in Florida helps a lot in the other major factor which is that the temperatures...

Deuce Service Brake Lights Fail After Short

Glad you have the problems all fixed. Have a great New Years!!! RL

    M1008 only heats while driving

What is the indicated operating temperature while idling and while driving????? I have seen a large air pocket be the source of a problem such as this. The heater hose from the intake manifold is the send to the heater core and there could be a large bubble trapping there when circulation is...

Deuce Service Brake Lights Fail After Short

I had one of my tail light sockets fry or rather the plastic that holds the connections melted and the light kept shorting out. You may not have the short, but there could be some issues with the contacts for the bulb in the socket itself. I understand that this may not have any particular...

    wiper motor trouble

I spray a little Silicone spray into the air line leading up to the plastic wiper motors I have and this keeps them working for me. This is the 100% silicone spray and not the mix with petroleum that some of the sprays labelled Silicone have. Works for me....Just my two cents RL

    M1009 Question, Jacks for lifting

A stock type of Jack for tire changes and such would make sense. I would add a hi-lift Jack if you plan on any offroad adventures. You do not always have a buddy and a vehicle around to pull you off of the log you are high centered on. Just my two cents RL

    Greetings from Broadalbin, NY

Welcome to the hobby. There is another member of the NY-PENN club right in Broadalbin. The next meeting of the Hudson Mohawk Co. is at Ephratah Rod and Gun CLub 1 pm on the 8th of Jan. Head out of Johnstown on Rt 67 and it is about 7-8 miles out about 1 mile from Ephratah. Anything I can...

Deuce Service Brake Lights Fail After Short

Steve You can check the operation of the turn signal switch by unplugging the rear lights, and probing the harness for operating circuits. The circuits are numbered and you can get a chart of the circuit number and function so you can be sure the turn signal switch is in fact bad. With the...

    Frustrating air pack

I think you need to isolate the problem. What I mean is to make GD sure that it is the air pack and not the master. Apply the brakes. Then, release the input brake pressure at the bleeder on top of the air pack. If the brakes release then the pin hole relief port is plugged in the master...

Deuce Service Brake Lights Fail After Short

From what I could tell from the schematic and I am not going out to look at my truck as my knee is barking pretty bad today, the rear lights have a separate wire ground but the fronts ground through the light itself. That is what I saw in the diagram. RL

Deuce Service Brake Lights Fail After Short

It is also possible that the turn signal switch has failed. The stop lights that are for normal driving are on a different circuit than the black out stop. This is because the blackout stop does not have a directional function and is routed through a different set of contacts in the switch...

    Compressor belt help

That belt is not supposed to be tight. Just snug enough so the compressor does not slip. If you over tighten it you can damage the compressor. Just my two cents worth RL

    front axle boot HELP!!!!

The trick for me was to do the cleaning as is mentioned here and then to have the clamp just loose enough so the boot has to compress slightly as you slide the clamp on. I am saying that the clamp should have to be puished on slightly with tension on the clamp as the boot is seated with the...

    CUCV steering column source needed

Personally, I have worked on these and have the tools so I would rather replace the broken parts out of a parts column than to remove and replace the one that is there. That is unless the owner wants to add TILT to his M1009 RL

    CUCV steering column source needed

You can propbably get a column out of most any GM vehicle of that era and simply transplant the parts needed to fix yours. It would be far easier this way and less work. The column assemblies aside from the actual mount to the firewall and daah are the same. Send me a PM and I can help you...

What is happening with T-Case in 4Hi and hubs NOT locked?

If the hubs are DISENGAGED and you try to shift into 4x4 while moving you can damage the synchros in the transfercase. That is one way to damage the transfer case. Another is that if you use LOW RANGE without the hubs engaged you can damage the rear end, possibly the transfercase as well...
