I bought a Rally 1200w inverter from inverters R us for my M1009 (well, actually bought TWO, but since the first one was stolen off my front porch, end result is I have ONE in hand, but that's neither here nor there) My initial plan was to put it in the hole on the passenger side of the dash...

aside from some wires, the only thing taking up additional space behind the dash is the inverter, which goes all the way to the back where the passenger side hole goes

Ok, for those of you that have this kit, how crucial is it to have the factory dash? I've got a custom made dash, with an inverter to be installed where the right side passenger vent is supposed to go. I'd like to get this kit, but my idea is to create custom ducting using flexible metal tubes...

any issues pulling boats? i've got a 19' ski boat i'd like to tow around this summer with mine.

With the insulation the job cost me about $110 and an afternoon of my time. I'm on day 3 since the paint, and I'd say it's about half as fumey as it was when done, but still pretty strong.

Here's my situation... on the first start of the day, or any start after sitting ~4+ hours, my M1009 absolutely HOWLS. I changed the belts and lubricated them with belt conditioner, but it hasn't changed anything. It only makes the noise when the glow plugs engage and the volt meter drops, and...

yep, that's the stuff. Went in REALLY easy, but i don't think it's doing much for sound insulation

the exterior is pretty good. the paint on the roof is a bit sun faded, but otherwise it's in good shape. I'm going to have to find better interior insulation, because the stuff I got is too thin. it's the foil backed stuff, but it's only 1/8" thick or so. it was real easy to work with, but...

obviously I just laid it down today, so I really don't know how well it will do after a few days/weeks/months. I'll report back though. Judging from some of the threads here, I can't be the first guy to do this, so someone else might be able to give you some insight on it already.

oh-****-yes not sure about long term, but ya, I was high as a kite today painting it on, and that was with both doors open and the tailgate down, with a breeze blowing from the back of the truck forward. I'm hoping the fumes die down a bit after the paint dries and cures

it was dark by the time i was done tonight, but i'll try to take some pics tomorrow. I'll admit it's not great to look at, as it was kind of gopped on there, but i'm going for function here, and it should function great. On top of that, just about all of it will be covered by floor mat or bed...
