    Epic, brutal failure

The $500 is a quote, but seeing how they seem to have experience with CUCVs, I'd imagine it is within the ballpark. ****, anything under $1000 I'll be happy with really, so long as the work is quality. And ya, I got b& from ARFCOM. It was a witchhunt/headhunting trip, but such is life...

    Epic, brutal failure

i'm the only guy i've seen on the interwoo posting as N_T, so I'd assume it's me..... I'm the same N_T from ARFCOM, ls1gto and baseops and no, $500 is a lot less than I expected. One guy on here posted about paying $1000+ to have an OD Iron kit installed

    plug on the rear bumper

the ready made adapters from OD Iron are pretty spendy ($90)... you're better off just splicing in your own wires unless you REALLY want a plug-in light solution

    Epic, brutal failure

So today was the big day... I was going to install my Nostalgic Air Parts air conditioner. I spent about 2 hours taking apart the dash and radiator shroud, and finally realized I was in WAAAAY over my head. So I took it to a local A/C shop. They quoted me $500 for the install, and it seems...

    Trailer plug adapter

Anyone have any experience with this? I need to hook up trailer lights, but don't really feel like spending $90 to do it!

    m1009 trailer lights???

Anyone have any experience with the pre-made light plug from OD Iron? Not sure if it's worth dropping $80 on it though

    Confused on Towing

My M1009 will be pulling my 19' ski boat (2700lbs total boat + trailer) this summer. We'll see how it handles it. I'm thinking the weak link will be the transmission and associated gearing. Not a lot of steep inclines in GA, especially along the routes I intend to take, so that should help...

Guys doing an OD Iron AC install-- found some better instructions

I've heard from many sources that the OD Iron instructions taht come with the A/C kit leave a lot to be desired. I've found another set of instructions for installing an aftermarket AC that seem to be a lot more detailed, though I'm not sure how well they correspond to the ODI kit. I figured...

is there an HID kit for the CUCV/H6054 lights?

Ya, I'm looking for incandescent bulbs for the high beams and HID for the lows. HIDs do NOT like momentary on such as flashing your brights. As for color, I'll probably go with 6000k. I've got 6000k in my GTO and it looks great, and have 3000k for the fogs.

Nostalgic Air Parts A/C kit experiences?

One other thing I'm wondering is if guys who have done an A/C install are getting enough airflow from the factory fan to cool the condenser and the radiator in 100+ degree heat. I'd rather not change out the fan, but I'd prefer to do that rather than overheat the truck.

Nostalgic Air Parts A/C kit experiences?

I was looking to put an OD Iron kit in my M1009, but about a week ago they jacked the prices up $400. Shopping around I found another company, Nostalgic Air Parts, which also has a "drop-in" (as much as is possible I suppose) CUCV A/C kit specifically for dual alternator setups like ours. I...

My CUCV is running just fine thank you!

Aside from some fluid leaks (basically all the fluids leak) mine has been running great.

    Not so hefty after all...

I might be wrong, but I think diesel is lighter than that. I know for an absolute FACT that JP-8 weight 6.8lbs/gal, and I doubt diesel is that much heavier.

is there an HID kit for the CUCV/H6054 lights?

I'm not looking for anything trendy in terms of appearance, I just want maximum light output. As it stands with the factory lights, I'm uncomfortable driving around at night in dark places. Driving out to my hunting spots this past winter I was downright terrified a deer or something would...

is there an HID kit for the CUCV/H6054 lights?

I'm looking to upgrade my headlights. I got an HID kit for my GTO and am EXTREMELY happy with them. I'm wondering if there is a similar kit that would work with a CUCV? I'm not looking for that blue light ricey crap, just a VERY bright headlight. If there is no such thing as an HID kit, what...

Anyone in the middle GA area want to help with an A/C install? FREE BEER!

Ok, so here's the deal... I'm looking to install an OD Iron kit when I get back from deployment in the beginning of May. Looking at the weekend of the 15th-16th, or 22nd-23rd. I'm officially soliciting help from ANYONE in the area who has the know-how to help me out with this project. I will...

Who has installed A/C in their CUCV?

i know there are a few people here who have done the OD Iron kit. I'm planning on getting one when i get back from this deployment

    Show me your civilianized M1009s

i think it actually looks really good. did they put a/c in it? If not, it's gotta be a bear in the summer being black. Only thing I would be upset about is the removal of the brush guard

    Show me your civilianized M1009s

What about paint? The truck is already solid green, and the roof and hood are pretty sun rotted. I'm leaning towards going with some color other than green. Problem is I'd have to paint the interior as well, which I really don't want to do
