    M35 to M109

Hi Guys, Thanks for the help. It seemed to me that there were some brackets to secure the van body. The van being wider than the chassis rails I presume some bracing is needed. I did look at the TMs but cannot now find the diagram I saw yesterday! Has anyone got dimensions of the braces and how...

    M35 to M109

Hi I am planning to remove the load bed and replace it with a shop van body. Had a brief look underneath and there seem to be two larger bearers under the load bed. Please can anyone tell me if these come off or whether the van body rests on them. How is it then secured? Thanks, Nartin

    Can't start engine

Hi I may be teaching Granny to suck eggs but be very careful if you crack any injector lines. The pressures are huge and can inject eyes/skin etc. I have heard it said that if a Deuce doesn't start as soon as you look at the starter button; there's a problem! Good luck. M

    Deuce age needed please

Hi Thanks for your help. Age is very important because the legislation applying to any vehicle is dictated by when it was made. This affects driving licence requirements and whether you have to pay to put it on the road and whether it has to be tested. M

    Deuce age needed please

Hi I have found a truck for sale, M35A2 W/W, with retrofitted workshop, but need to establish the age as it's critical over here. The Data plate says it was made by Kaiser Jeep at South Bend. The Stock number is 2320 077 1617 the ID number is 04A 60769 0425 12851 The DAAE 06 68 C 0011...

    Measuring diesel/petrol specific gravity.

Hi I am, I hope, about to buy another deuce. I have been offered an M109. A while back someone kindly did a graph to show how the gravity of petrol/diesel mix could give the proportion of the two fuels in that mix. Unfortunately, I am having terrible problems buying a hydrometer to cover that...

    Do I have a "D" turbo or a "C" turbo?

Hi I had a whistler which was very loud so we just cut the stack so it went up vertically and popped a flap on it. This reduced cab volume dramatically. Martin

Not happy with the new purchase so far.

CUCV Hi I had a CUCV a while back and I was concerned to note the one being talked about here. 'The starter wouldn't catch'. My starter motor fell off!!! The silly little bracket on the end had worked loose and this had allowed the whole motor to move. This resulted in one of the large front...

    Deuce manufacturer

Deuce manufacturers Hi I wondered if anyone could please scan the article and email it to me as I cannot seem to find the magazine in the UK. I am trying to buy an M109 and age is critical to avoid 'Imperial' interest!! Thanks, Martin8462003@btinternet.com

Hi Thanks for that. My workshop body had been fitted on the bed of a cargo (with winch) and weighed just under 8 tons. Regards, Martin

    Weights

Hi I am still looking for a suitable Deuce. I am trying to decide between M35 cargo, M109 Shopvan or either a 2.5 ton tractor unit with a S280 type shelter instead of a 5th wheel or taking the bed off a cargo and fitting a shelter. With this in mind please can anyone tell me the weights of the...

    Deuce ages 'again'!

Hi Sorry to go down this road again but it is important for me. In the UK we have complicated licence/registration procedures. On a normal 'car' licence you can drive any gross weight vehicle provided it was made before 01.01.1960 and it is not used commercially. Thus all deuces we have seem to...

    Fitting a winch

Hi I am thinking about buying another Deuce but this one does not have a winch. However, the seller knows someone who is selling one. Can anyone tell me how straightforward it is to fit. Will the truck have the necessary PTO already and will I have to cut the cab floor for the control lever...

    1st week with a deuce...

Hi, I am new to the forum.I have had military trucks over the last 18 years starting with a DUKW. We had a M35A2 converted to a M109. It too was noisy so we chpped the exhaust off at the top where it was vertical and then fitted a flap. This made a real difference and enabled me to drive without...
