Given that silicone based brake fluid is what the mil specs calls for on M37's I was wondering if that is what folks are commonly using. Also has anyone had leak problems using the silicone based fluid.

I posted quite a bit on this and it can get complictaed but the short version is that the lubricant must have a GL4 rating.

If the threads are gone I would look for a serviceable replacement carb or rebuildable core. They pop up on e bay all the time. Mid West Military has kits that come with all new jets and hardware as well as gaskets.

I also used nutserts on mine when I went through the windshield frame. In addition to that I coated threads with never seize compound.

I got these at Advanced Auto Parts. They are a hair short for the hold down but perfect width. Pretty strong in the CCA department. Used 1/0 welding cable to make up my battery cables with all connections soldered to the ring connectors.

All my resources tell me very hard to come by, I was looking too. If you find one expect it will be pricey.
