CSMDavis in Mississippi had a bunch of those at one time. I got a spare cable from him. I might sell the old one I replaced which had been spliced if you want to salvage the ends. To save on shipping I could just cut the ends off and mail them in a small box.

Are you sure the fuel shutoff solenoid is allowing the fuel to flow? These trucks are notorious for the solenoid to de-energize and not start. Usually resulting in the operator draining the batteries. Sometimes extended cranking will eventually get the solenoid to energize but it is hard on the...

I put a regular 5 ton dropside bed on my M927A2 and put a 5th wheel behind it. Long wheel base trucks are not that common.....I would not cut the frame on it to shorten it up. Short wheel base trucks are going pretty cheap these days.
