    Lets See Your 5-Ton!

I went all the way through this thread and was surprised to discover that I had not posted a pic of the M927. Here it is for your enjoyment and edification.

    Exhaust for a turbo multi-fuel

The turbo was added to reduce smoke.....not to gain performance. Unless you are putting in an LDS multi-fuel in there will be very little gain in performance. There have been several threads that show the addition of a muffler to deuces of various kinds.

accessories ran off deuce air supply

I got the biggest compressor that Tractor Supply sells (the Boss Lady works there) and it has served me well. You can catch them on sale and watch for "Friends and Family" sales. That being said media blasters are air hogs....even a big compressor will work to keep up with demand. I have a...

Best source of information for a newbie?

They are modern to a certain degree...they still use the deuce frame, running gear and cab (the sheet metal was modified to allow for the size of the CAT engine). The brake system was upgraded somewhat and the CTIS added along with the super single tires. They are ugly and slow but some people...

    Seem on cargo cover

I know that using Gorrila tape is worthless as far as mending these cargo covers. I have issues with the seams around the zippered openings on either end coming unbound on the cover of my M927 and have had no success finding a good repair method. I know that at one time (I've been out of the...

Quick introduction and questions on Headgasket.

First welcome to the Green Iron Laughing Accademy......the more lunatics the merrier. The M35A3 (with the CAT/Allison setup) was a stopgap measure to upgrade the fleet before the wartime funding floodgates opened and the military industrial complex had a field day with the taxpayers money. The...

Oh Dear Lord! I just bought a 5 ton from Ft Rucker in AL. Now what?

You are not too far away to attend the GA Rally next Oct. Start planning now to avoid conflict with othe mundane occasions such as weddings, anniverseries, ball games, hunting season or NASCAR races. I leave early (maybe on Sunday before the rally) but whenever I start anyone is welcome to...

    FT HOOD Museum Pics

Lots of good scenery out there.....Hood was one of the bases I never got to visit while serving. Maybe one day I can make a trip out there.

Oh Dear Lord! I just bought a 5 ton from Ft Rucker in AL. Now what?

I've done a couple of recoveries from Rucker. There is no full time GL guy there......he comes over from some other location. You have to work around his schedule. The guy I delt with was super and I was in and out in a short time. I'm sorta on the way to Rucker (if you go through the woods) if...

Shop Van Body, possibly for M35?

That is in fact a van body that was removed from a truck as opposed to a shelter that goes up in a cargo truck bed. When military posts had canibalization yards (don't know if they still do) units would often get a body like that to use as a line shack or storage room.

    Hello, new to site..

You may need a CDL to drive it in your state. If hot weather is not your friend you may want put air conditioning in it. Also if you are going to bob it you might consider air ride suspension to make the ride more comfortable......the shorter the wheel base the rougher the ride. Just my opinion.

Christmas present to self, an M109A3

SAWEEEEET!!!! I loved my 109 but sold it to finance my ever increasing green iron habit....I started out on a "gateway deuce" and then moved up to M915's and M900 series 5 tons. The justification for owning one will eventully be met by a need for one.

M939 Series Air Brake Cage Bolts

It does in fact release the brakes so that the vehicle can be moved, towed or pushed/pulled onto a trailer if it won't build air. If you cage the brakes you will have no stopping power.....if there is any incline at all you should have the vehicle chained or cabled to another vehicle or solid...

    New from Camp Lejeune, NC

There are some good SS folk out there.......ZiggyO and Reb87 come to mind......look them up when you get home.

Intervehicular Cable ? / Truck to trailer cable...

The cable used between a tractor and a semi-trailer is called an Inter-Vehicular or IV cable. Some military tractors have the military and civilian cables so the tractor can pull civy trailers if need arises. Most cargo trailers (made to be pulled with a pintle hitch) have the cable built on...

    Who Bought Those Oshkosh MK-48s???

They have not reappeared at Jacksonville although I have inside info that there are several ship loads of vehicles and equipment that will be sold out of Blount Island as soon as it is processed through DRMO and all the usual agencies have a crack at it before it goes on the block. My guess is...

    First "real" drive

Ya got to love a deuce....even though I sold my last cargo deuce I still have fond memories of it. One of the best was when I went to Lowes and bought two pallets of Sackcrete. The guy asked if I wanted them delivered and I said no just load them on my big pickup truck.....he looked at me like...

    Which genset for home power?

I have a MEP003A 10K diesel mounted on a trailer. It sucks fuel even when just loafing along......if needed it would run the whole house (all electric with wood heat for emergencies) but we have a small gas burner we use for projects around the farm that need power. At some point in time I'm...
