    Appropriate Trailers for M915s

I have pulled civy trailers with the M915......mostly the container rail trailers. Even though a lot of the older military trailers are air over hydrolic the M915 brake system will work fine.

    Helmet hardtop m101

They are made of unobtainium.......rare as hens teeth. I was in the Army 34 years and never saw one in person (or the hard shell for the M105). I guess it depended on how slick your Motor Sergeant was.

    Big boy tools for deuce

Most wrenching can be done with standard hand tools. I would get a cheap 1" set of sockets (Harbor Fright or similar) for the lug nuts. You will need extensions, a breaker bar and cheater pipe to make changing tires easier. Having air tools with impact sockets is a plus for working on the...

    M172A1.....Legal???

When I was in the Army we routinely hauled D8 dozers behind a M916 with this trailer......we never had a problem with the DOT but them again we only operated off post once and awhile....when we did we never got permits. It's a great trailer but as AMG pointed out the ramps are a hernia waiting...

    Putting a M66 ring mount on a M813 Truck

If you are actually going to fire a "Ma Deuce" off the vehicle you will need a backing plate installed inside the cab behind the seats. Otherwise you can have problems with metal fatigue and cracking.

Will a deuce run on refrigeration oil?

If I remember my history Phosgene was used in WWI with devestating effect by both sides (I may be wrong on this point). The effects were maximized by the trench warfare because the heavy gas tended to sink into low areas and linger depending on the weather. Thousands of soldiers died and were...

Will a deuce run on refrigeration oil?

Will a deuce run on refrigeration oil?

I would say that the hot air generated at Ground Zero would blow the phosgene away before it could do any harm to the primary hot air generators. It is a survival reaction they have (kind of like a skunk emitting a foul stink) to protect their status quo. They are like cockroaches......you kill...

Info on 4 cylinder diesel continental?

Unless it has a standard bell housing that will accept a stock clutch and transmission you might be buying a boat anchor. 66 HP is not a lot of power.....might take a while to get up to speed.

How did you get your bed off.

When I removed the bed off my bobber I jacked it up and put some big industrial rollers between the bed and the frame.....I then pulled it backward with my little tractor onto some 4x4s that I had jacked up on the aforementioned 55 gallon drums. I had to keep moving the rollers untill I had it...

    m35 frozen

Are you sure your alternater is charging? If the batteries are low that may be the cause. Do you keep it outdoors? That can have a big effect on the batteries......the colder it is the less cranking power the batteries will have. If you have a torpedo type heater you can blow hot air over...

Searching on GL for Surplus Bows and canvas?

One thing to think about is that often GL will lump a bunch of stuff together in a big lot and not list each item....not often but it happens. I would check the sites near you lot by lot....do the broad search on the other sites. Just my dos centavos.

    m813 over the road reliability

Out in the desert in the summertime a deuce or 5 ton is a rolling oven.....there is no way to get cool in one with the sun blasting down and the heat from the engine coming up through the floor. Even a 915 or 916 sucks in the desert (no AC).....I spent a couple of weeks driving them at Fort...

    GL on Fox News

I doubt we will see a huge run to GL or GSA....people have a very short attention span....most viewers forgot what they saw before the next commercial was over. If they Google GL they will prob get a lot of threads from this site expressing disgust and dissatisfaction with the way GL does...

    Secondary Filter Bleeding Question

If you crack the bleeder just a little you can watch while someone cranks the truck...when the air bleeds out you shut the valve and stop the flow.......just put some rags around the bleeder to catch any spill. You also need to crack the injector lines where they go into the head and bleed the...
