Even if it never saw military service you could always make a "clone" out of it.
Nothing wrong with that as long as you don't try to sell it as the real thing.
SRO....there was a program on the HISTORY channel (I think) that featured the "underwater loggers".
Logs submerged in water do not rot. A lot of the logs they recovered were old growth and were very valuable.
Once the logs were recovered and dried awhile they were milled.....the finished lumber...
Is it your yard or are you paying for secure storage.
If you are paying for secure storage then the facility owes you two batteries and damages to your vehicle (I don't care how many signs they have that say "Not responsible for damages or theft").
It might even be an "inside job".
Would...
I would suggest an M36 (long bed deuce) with a graple loader mounted behind the cab.
Pull a bolster trailer behind it and use the graple to load the trailer and the truck.
You are probably still going to have to carry commercial insurance and that may not be cheap in your area. That combination...
Mules are like M37's (in my opinion) they have reached the point where they are more of a collectors item than a practical work horse or daily driver. The same goes for the M151 Jeeps and M123's.
They are getting rare and should be restored for parades and displays but not driven every day.
If you have a table saw you can run them down to where they fit snugly. You almost want to have to tap them into place. You dont want any slop.
Once you get the trailer that is going to be on top inverted you can have the forklift driver put the forks under the axle. This will allow you to slide...
Ref putting a 250 Cummins out of a 5 ton into a deuce the short answer is no....for several reasons.....weight (too heavy),
lenght (too long) and highth.
The 250 is very heavy for the amount of power it produces and you would also have to use the 250 bell housing and transmission'
more weight...
Without a winch 4K sounds a little high.....it depends on how many there are locally available.
The market is loaded with them but you have the advantage of inspecting and driving those two.
If you buy from GL you might get it cheaper but you are buying a pig in the poke.
I been to three marryings, four buryings, three rodeos and a goat roping......but I ain't never seen nothing like that.
Post that right up there with the Malibu deuce and the deuce with CUCV axles.
I hear banjos playing in the background.:hammer:
You might want to check that "Caps Lock" button on your puter.
There are several guys on the site from CA and a lot of information has been posted about your question.
As I understand it you do need a Commercial Drivers License out there to drive a deuce on the public roads.
I have a butt load of brand new laminated glass for windshields and side windows.
Cannot ship so you will have to be close by to buy.
PM for details and prices.
Knowing DB as I do I am very sure that Gimp is telling the truth.
DB has screwed just about everybody that has come in contact with him.
He still has my stolen property stored in Celina, OH (unless he has sold it to two or three other people).
I have spoken to one of the local LEO's up there...
