The pump is an externally mounted 24v civilian pump. I gave him another new one to swap it out and he hasn't done that yet. I'll remind him to try that.
I wouldn't say he's "throwing" money at it. He's terribly slow and deliberate on things like this. It's taken him all year to get to this point. He will always try to rehabilitate an old part before he'll spend money on a new one.
I think he is going to pull the valve cover in the next day...
He's replaced the coil and been through the govenor. I'm not sure of the mileage but as far as I know, it's never been rebuilt. He's had it at least 10 years and he's put maybe 1000 miles on it, mostly for parades and such.
Here's the obligatory photo taken last year when it was running...
My buddy has a nice M135 which, for nearly the last year, has given him fits. He's replace/adjusted the points, removed, cleaned and timed the distributor, checked the plugs and wires, cleaned and reworked the carb twice...and it will start (most of the time) and even run for a bit but quickly...
There isn't a "Civil Defense" per say any longer. One of the FD in Helena had some military equipment they got from Civil Defense. When they tried to return it to Uncle Sam, they were told to dispose of it however they wished. Many people get trucks this way. My new M37 was a fire truck...
Hi Chris!
I live in Odenville not far from you. I have a bunch of photos in my gallery, see links below:

You...
Here's my gallery of photos from the meet. I'm pretty sure we all had a good time. The weather was fantastic.

As far as I know, USMC trucks did have the paperclips on the front bumper. If your truck was sent to play with the Army, they may have changed the bumpers to stardard parts.
I'm not sure on the shackles.
Charles is telling you what we would: a bandaid will not last and you'll be back inside the engine again before you know it and you'll be even more miserable.
There's no oil seals since the valves are upside down in the block.
Save your money if you have to but go ahead and fix it right.
I'll be there and looking for a reasonably priced M37 radiator and shroud. My buddy will have his M-series wire crimpers for sale as well.
Always a great time and let's hope the weather is good!!
I see what you are say'n but that wouldn't work either. Then we lose and they win.
The Veteran's Memorial Museum is there and they get along sorta well with the establishment. Kinda.
But the show must go on!
Hmm, I just read this thread all the way through and it's alarming that Huntsville is so hostile to it's taxpayers.
I'm going to notify Johnny (Dixie Division prez) to see if this might cause us trouble in 2012. I'd hate to get going at the convention and have the cops show up and throw us out...
