    Premium Membership Explained

I'm not too frequent of a visitor here (but that will change!) but this has always been a good site and group of folks. I'm in for two years.

    Scrap yard find

Did anyone ever go check out this truck? I could run up there and check it out (don't need one I have two already) but I hate for it to be abandoned.

    M135 spit'n and sputter'n

Thanks guys for the continued advise. I think the fuel system is still not kosher....even though he cleaned the filter way back when the trouble started, he must have some crap in there.

    M135 spit'n and sputter'n

I agree and I'll urge him to go back over the fuel system again. He could just have another blocked fuel line. Thanks!

    M135 spit'n and sputter'n

I read your message above to him and he thinks he has it set correctly but it doesn't make a difference. Timing is correct too.

    M135 spit'n and sputter'n

Originally the truck would run and then just quit until it cooled off. We eventually decided that dirty fuel filters were causing the civilian 24v pump to overheat and quit. After the fuel filters were replaced, it ran good. Then he decided that if the filter was that dirty, perhaps the...

    M135 spit'n and sputter'n

He's already had the valve cover off and the springs are OK. He changed out the distributor cap and it acted differently but still would not start. He swapped the wires and it did nothing at all. No fire. So he changed them back. Now it trys again. Ok, here's the question on the float...

    M135 spit'n and sputter'n

I passed on the note about the distributor. He's going to try to swap it around 180' or change the plug wires.

    M135 spit'n and sputter'n

As far as we know, the power valve is fine. The regulator is set at 3psi. We have had the "bowl" off the top and when we throw the switch, we can see the fuel bowl fill and the float stop it. What does the manual show for a float level? I think that he has it set for 3/4" below the level of...

    M135 spit'n and sputter'n

I wanted to update this thread as we have been working on the truck today and it still won't run. Matter of fact it is worse. Over the last month or so, we got a rebuild kit from a member here on SS. It was dated sometime in the late '80s. My buddy rebuilt the carb with the kit and after...

    Rim Clips?? For snow chains?

My '53 USMC truck has a rim/tire with those clips on it. The tire has a 1953 date stamp on it. I may keep that assembly as an artifact.....

    M37 Passenger Seat Back?

You should consider those seatbacks as a starter kit for your own tractor....LOL....

    M37 Passenger Seat Back?

Nope, that's not an M37 seat back. The correct one hangs from the top and doesn't have those brackets. It's also maybe a foot high and six inches thick and as long as the bottom.

Should there be a SE US show??

Some of you may know this but the Huntsville museum will be moving to the nearby National Guard Armory which is a huge building and plenty of fenced property. I don't know of the timetable but it's something to consider. I wouldn't run the event too far up the coast or you'll loose Fl and...

Weight of the average tank engine?

Wow. Ok. This stand is probably not for those engines. I dug all over the interwebz and found a reference to the stand which rates it at 2600lbs. So a jeep body with suspension and no engine would be easy for that rotisserie. Thanks for the info.

Weight of the average tank engine?

I bought a Military tank engine rotisserie last weekend. I am going to use it for jeep bodies, etc. Other guys are using these for restoring bodies on jeeps and small trucks. I don't have any info on the weight capacity of these things as there is no manual available. So, what is the...

Kennesaw Mtn GA MVPA Show and Swap Meet

I'm bringing up the rear here but I will say the show was good from a "good deals" point of view. There did seem to be a divide between the big trucks and the jeeps, whether by intent or by the geography of the site. I have been puzzled in the past by the apparent disconnect between the jeep...
