I think it depends which one fails...if the pass lower fails i think the upper will hold...I can tell you the driver fails and the axle rotates and the drive shaft comes out...Fortunately i was coming to a stop so I didn't die lol..
I tried searching first then after 2 hours of reading things totally not related to this hahaha, i came to the conclusion that it's not in here.
That being said I just watched a video of a kid winching and the cable breaking coming back though the windshield (of a jeep) and literally blew off...
Driver's lower. The rear end just just sits on the spring pack, it's not tied to it at all. There was enough room for it to slide back enough to pull the drive shaft out and turn into a propeller.

Bought a set for one that blew off coming to a stop sign, rear-rear axle slide back, drive shaft popped off and destroyed itself...
DON'T LET THEM FALL OFF. I Went HD because I don't feel like dying..
People forget these trucks were well over 100k back in the day would be double that now, new axles to build today wouldn't be cheap.. it's only because the government took the hit we get these things cheap. Since there's no government involved things are going to be at actual cost.
Just browsing and I see everyone agrees the m8xx series is better off road. Just wondering why? It would seem to me with selectable front axle, ctis etc. The m9xx would be better? Just curious as to your thoughts about this.
I came to an stop at a stop and and I hear a BOOM. I thought I blew up the transfer case or transmission. When I looked I saw this. Looks like the I-Beam fell off and allowed the rear axle to slide back. Unfortunately me moving off the road destroyed the front yoke, rear part of the shaft...
Just wondering who makes a good and more importantly rated snatch block for a 5 ton with a 20k pto winch?
I see a few that were rated for 16k winches, but Id like to have one that rated the same or higher. In these cases I don't like to live dangerously haha.
TIA
