There is a place in nearby Seguin that overhauls large vehicle starters. Found that an A3 starter is roughly $200 bucks more than a A2 starter so we wanted to at least see if they can rebuild or get parts first.
As far as the hard top install, worked out great. We went ahead and drilled the...
FYI, we still haven't pulled the starter. We wanted to swap the relay first, which did us absoltely no good aua. SHould have taken advice and gone straight to the starter. I will check out the spring first as mentioned previously.
Well the airplane is done. Hard top front section is bolted down and with the bolts, it compressed the rubber gasket at the top of the window and made everything line up just fine. We are going to work on installing the series of bolts on the back side of the cab this weekend. Still having...
I think most guys here don't run the engine that hard (around 2900). I know we have a self imposed limit of 2500-2600 rpm which gives us similar speeds as previously posted.
Another -A3 driver! Woo-hoo! I love our A3, especially when cruising down the highway now that we have most of the bugs worked out. Gonna post pics as soon as we get the lights on it ;)
Congrats!
Well the seller has done alot to this truck. Sounds like he knows what he is talking about. Driving the truck is EXACTLY what you need to do. As long as you keep up with preventative maint. she will run forever.
I can make an analogy to airplanes, and when they sit they require alot of $...
The guy helping me asked if it was a ballistic door panel! Told him it was just old lol.
Zout...its of no consequence, I have edited my posts and am over it. No worries.
I would second the opinion regarding wheel cylinders. On our 66 model we had to replace quite a few of those. Other than that, had to swap out the brake light actuator that couples to the air system, but just like a car, make sure they are rigged right and preventative maint.
As far as the...
Thanks for the advice, I will drill out the window frame on the bottom and make it happen. If you look at the photo, you will see that I have about 1/2" to play with on the drive'rs side window frame before it gets to be where it needs to. However, to get the two holes to line up, looks like I...
Thanks! We removed the door, got out a sledge, and now it is in great shape  I am still having some issues with the hard top alignment though. Please see post below:
I am having some issues getting the front part of the hard top to settle down correctly on the window frame to where it is square. I think I know why the old -A2 had the bolts drilled all of the way through the frame, but I would like to avoid doing that if at all possible. This is why I am...
The "pins" that you mention in this post....are the on the outside of the hard top or under the front "brow" where it fastens to the window? About how long are they? Our hard top that came off of our -A2 had bolts drilled through the window frame (both top and bottom of the frame) to hold down...
Ron, in speaking with the Guard guys here in my area, the fiber seats were around when the truck was built. They have said the same thing as posted in they have seen them with both types of seats in them. If you have any questions about the A3 shoot me a PM as I am being forced to learn quickly ;)
I told you so
I told you there would be a great amount of opinions, didn't I? :-P
I will have to support what Nonotagain has to say in that both trucks have their own problems. The CAT motor does produce more horsepower and it is noticeable when driving around, not in top end, but off the...
One other tid-bit...well make it 2:o
1. Try posting this forum as your own post with a poll. I always enjoy the results of the poll. Keep in mind, however, that everyone will have their own opinion. My reasoning for posting a new poll is that on older threads like this one, I have found...
