I asked if it was waterproof, he said they are sealed up with gaskets and glue. But I see it has the standard one way rubber drain that is on most starters. I am thinking of looking for a different type of drain/vent.

This is a link to the exact starter that I bought, $230. I picked it up since he was semi local to me. I just finished putting it in this evening. I discovered what caused my old starter to crap out....The push button start switch stayed stuck in the start...
I took my starter and had it checked... multiple issues, fried armature being the worst. He can't rebuild due to lack of availability. I am now headed to a shop close by that has aftermarket Delco style gear reduction starters pretty reasonable. Hopefully they fit as recommended by my local guy...
I just tried fully charged Optima batteries from my Wrangler. No difference, I didn't think there would be. But, what the heck, it was worth a shot. Here are all the symptoms: 1. starter stays engaged 2. When main power is turned on starter spins on it's own 3. When engaged starter barely cranks...
It was the starter to frame rail ground. Now a month later I have another issue. Starter occasionally would stay engaged, but today when I turned the power switch on it cranked on it's own, very slowly and noisey. Batteries are fully charged. Guages were randomly going on and off when I drove it...
I am dealing with exactly the same issue. :???: When you are idling with the accessory switch on, does the engine kind of lope? I think the starter may have been engaged and dragging down the motor. That was what mine did yesterday, then tried to start it a few hours later and it barely cranks...
ARRRGGGHH, I thought I had the problem solved, but when I went to leave work an hour ago, no go. I had replaced the starter remote relay, and it seemed to crank and start good. Tonight it gave a half hearted crank, then just click, click. One of my attempts gave a shower of sparks fro somewhere...
Dang!!! Wish I had found them when I was looking for a pump. But, then again, I was stuck and Murray is about a 45 minute drive from me. I'll store that one away for future reference. Thanx Gimp, you're the best.
TNJ Murray in Dover Delaware has the in tank fuel pumps, a bit pricey at $400, but I guess that is about average for brand new (mfg'ed in 2011). Ask me, I just replaced mine. But before popping for a new pump, check the fuse. It is located in the little rectangular cover that is bolted to the...
I made it into work after all, so i will be using the pics, diagram and jumper cables tomorrow. I think I am headed towards a new relay at the very least.
First I did use the search button without any results that would help me with this. I was getting an intermittent no crank condition, several pushes of the starter button and it would fire right up. Yesterday I made a 50 mile trip, the truck sat for a couple of hours, then the same, first push...
Looks like junk to me, better not buy it. By the way what is your buddy's phone number I COULD get rid of it for him....hahaha. You better not let that one go, my friend. Everything looks easily repairable, especially since you have access to a fab shop. BUY IT.
YUP, I do remember those areas the way they were. It really comes down to the people (kids & adults alike) that have no regard for how beautiful and fun the pines can be for EVERYBODY. They have and continue to destroy those areas. Because of the ones that have deuces and other MV's, I have to...
I am running "QQ" tags on mine, and 75% of the times that I do see a ranger, I have been told about "QQ"tag usage. Every time has come with " get off the trails, and/or next time will be a citation" I have seen how destructive people have become, with no regard to the fact that they are making...
