Hello.
I just bought a dump and need a good bumper and the pax side gussets that mount it to the frame.
I'm supposed to pick up a deuce at Warner Robbins later this month. I'll be driving up I-75 near you and it would be neat to stop by. It'd be good to go shopping.
I had to screw in the screw on that solenoid... I guess it buypasses the electric shutoff... to pull start my 817 at Camp Dodge. It started in just a few yards.
Problem now is that the starter is a Neville with a round solenoid. It doesn't look like the drawings in the manual, and the wiring...
I had to pull start my M817 Dump truck to get it home successfully. Found a great inspection report in the truck that noted that it needed a new protective control box... relaed to starting.
So I installed a new one yesterday and note that the truck has a Neville starter that doesn't look...
Quite an education.
Haven't been to Camp Dodge in decades but found the folks there great to deal with.
'71 M817 looked great... nice paint, solid body, one full tank of diesel, most tires OK, but it needed a pull start. Got that done and headed out for Illinois. Had a 200 mile drive ahead...
Need new seat covers but apparently have only driver seat covers figured out. Will covers suitable to the M35 work on the passenger/assistant driver side?
Picked up a deuce at Ft. Sheridan and got it exactly out of the motor pool before it ran out of fuel. Jump at the batteries didn't work so I plugged a couple screwdrivers into the slave cable recepticle to jump it. Fuel leaks, rain, no driver's window latch, onset of dark, Chicago area traffic...
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: motor life span
What's the highest mileage anybody out there has personally seen?
That's a hard question because of the many engine changes common on the deuce and the short time most servicemen are linked to a vehicle.
This has turned out to be a beautiful truck. Needs the dash replaced but that's normal. Will get batteries tomorrow. The thing just hums (OK, like it's got a mouthful of marbles) and paint is beautiful.
A lucky win.
I'm going to try linking brake systems next week... maybe test the idea this weekend. I'm not up to speed on the systems so my quetions may seem odd, but I'm not clear from the links I followed.
A couple questions:
I understand tapping into the rear of the hydrovac after removing the j tube...
Thanks for the suggestions.
Took it to the local Chevy shop and found the pump rusted and leaking. One battery is problematic but I'll try to desulphate it to use it on a deuce. tranny gasket was jury rigged so I'm glad I had the tranny checked out. It now starts and runs with a jump.
I'll...
Thanks for the note.
I did some searching for info too and it helps a lot. Great site.
Got the 1009 home today and am chargng a battery tonight. i suspect the glow plugs.
I picked up a beautiful M1009 yesterday...
Won't start, but I had an adventure trying.
The batteries were not securely held or connected and a battery cable dropped to the frame... and a short apparently started a small fire on the firewall.
It appears that the capacitor assembly (fig 36...
I've got a deuce engine that knocks, and another that has a thrown rod. I suspect that between the two I've got the makings for a good engine, even if I need to throw in some new bearings.
I need a sturdy engine stand that will support the engine, and especially in various positions. Maybe a...
Yep. Burned up some neat deuce stuff and I need a bit of help to get a claim in fast. Got most prices but have a couple harder to get sources and prices for:
Shatter-resistant front windshield glass panels (just the glass piece)
Brand new air ride driver seat... in box (drat)
Used 2 pin...
I saw that little marine pump this weekend, and the electrical lines bothered me because I need to pump mystery stuff from the tank of a long-stationary M211.
They also have a pneumatically driven 12 gpm pump that I'm trying out... and figuring on running it from another deuce or even an air...
RE: TM
Thanks for the note Kenny. I found that manual after I posted. Spent an hour downloading it so I can carry it around with me in pendrive. Should be lotsa fun.
